+25 Star Wars asteroid field is NOT too dense, amirite?

by Anonymous 4 days ago

The Problem with Asteroid fields Like the one in Star wars is, that fields Like that turn into planets very quickly

by Anonymous 4 days ago

Well the Aldaraan one probably wasn't going to be forming one any time soon

by Anonymous 4 days ago

Quickly on a cosmic scale perhaps. Could have been a planet in the process of forming, but taking thousands of years to do so.

But these things happen in the beginning of solar system Formation. Where would the Asteroids suddenly come from after the Formation?

by Anonymous 4 days ago

Maybe a planet that was recently blown up?

Like how quickly? Over millions of years maybe? In my non-professional scientist mind I can fathom that there could have been a period somewhere in the universe where a dense field like that existed for long enough for the Millenium Falcon to navigate through it. The rings of Saturn and Jupiter have particles pretty close together and apparently some of them are as large as a few hundred kilometers.

Under the physics of our world, maybe.

Nice actual scientific explanation.

An asteroid field that dense would not last very long.

by Anonymous 4 days ago

Just had to last a couple hours if that

It is too dense, but who cares? It'd be a boring film if Han said "make sure you don't crash into that asteroid, Chewey! It's only 600,000 miles away!" "Grrr Rawgh Mughhhhhh" "You said it Chewey, if you pulled the gear shift an inch too far to the right, you'd hit it in about two days time!"

Can you tell me what genre Star Wars is? That may change your opinion.

by Anonymous 4 days ago

Romantic drama in a fantasy setting

by Anonymous 4 days ago

How so? It is scientists saying that is unrealistic. I am saying that it could be plausible.

by Anonymous 4 days ago

You have issues with the science. It is science FICTION. The science doesn't have to science.

by Anonymous 4 days ago

Yes I specifically referred to the part toward the end where you said you have issues with the science. I took your words exactly. But regarding plausibility... it's plausible, again, bc of the genre, not because of any scientific facts we're familiar with.
