+56 We talk about seeing a concert, but the main reason we go is to listen. amirite?

I don't think that's really true at all, personally. Other than slight improvisational changes to songs (which are often not worthwhile) the audio doesn't sound much different than listening with headphones. IMHO, I think seeing the show and the atmosphere with our eyes is appreciated more.

As a rock music enthusiast, I go to vibrate.

Depends on the venue. If I'm going to the Sphere in Vegas it would be to watch

I go to see, hear, feel and participate in the vibe.

It's the total experience that people want. Seeing them play, jamming with other like minded people, overpriced merch and yes, the music.

In German we neither say "we're going to see a concert" or "we're going to listen to a concert" but we just say "we're going to a concert" (wir gehen auf ein Konzert/zum Konzert). Do people in English really say they're going to see a concert?

Yep. Although it's usually more like "I'm going to see <band> at <venue>." We also say "we're going to a concert" though.

No, I listen to music if I want to hear it. I go to a concert if I want to experience it.

Not at all. I can listen to the music anytime I want, but to see them perform it on stage and put on an actual show is the main reason I would go to a concert.

Do blind people, when they get jealous, also ask each other "Are you seeing someone?"...?

by abnerhackett 1 week ago

Lol no, we go to watch the musicians perform the songs. The listening is part of it sure, but part of it in the same way listening is part of watching a movie.

Tell me you've never been to a concert without telling me...

I go to see the musicians perform and for the energy a live show creates.
