Love at first sight is just attraction, amirite?
by Anonymous15 hours ago
Probably, but when you're attracted to someone's actions as well as their appearance, there's something to be said for that being a different level of attraction. Plenty of hot people. Not everybody is who you'd want to end up with

People also confuse limerance and love. You can't love somebody in just a few months, let alone a few weeks.

I had limerence towards a girl for years. It legit drove me insane. I couldn't do anything without her on my mind. My mood was based on her mood, and if she talked to me that day. Very emotionally dependent. It was bad. Interesting enough, I got diagnosed with adhd like 2 years ago. And it explains a lot of the limerence symptoms. Got put on medication for adhd and my limerence towards that girl. Gone after like a week after I started the meds. Crazy

Everyone is different, and you absolutely can fall in love in a few months

Agreed, the Halo effect plays a huge role too

Absolute truth. It is either attraction or just lust. Anyone who thinks love at first sight is possible should get their head examined.

I believe it's just nomenclature. I think it's mostly used to describe lust and attraction at first sight but it's from older times when language wasn't as "bawdy".

If you've never experienced it, you'd believe this

Love at first "sight". You have no idea if they are nice, mean, rude, a bigot, stupid, racist, sexist, a criminal, a pedophile and on and on yet you "love" them after seeing them for .2 seconds?
by Anonymous12 hours ago
I think a lot of people use it to mean their first interaction rather than literally their first view of them.
by Anonymous12 hours ago
What if the first time you see them, they are working at a soup kitchen and helping feed a homeless, disabled person?
by Anonymous12 hours ago
You fall in love with who you imagine them to be.

Hard to explain unless you've experienced it. Never believed in it or fate until I met my husband. Now I am an atheist that believes in fate. I know it doesn't make sense, but here I am.

Fully agree, "love at first sight" is such bull imo. Falling in love requires getting to know a person.

Don't downplay attraction. Lots of emotion and chemistry is attached to attraction. Without it, longevity isn't likely.
