+12The 'greatest generation' did not need a college education, traditional jobs with pensions and healthcare benefits lifted the entire nation. The Boomers, to be successful, needed either a traditional job or a higher educations. Most did OK and were able to put their kids through college because their employers paid for healthcare. With Gen-X, the rules had changed. Those without an education were hard pressed to compete and could not live better than their parents had. They continue to struggle to afford college for their kids and many will go bankrupt when they face common illnesses like cancer, heart disease or diabetes; health care is just too expensive for many of them. The Millennials are on their own. If they cannot get congress to pass universal healthcare and education finance reform their children may never experience the American dream.

Should I vote for a political candidate who supports letting people with pre-existing mental illness purchase firearms, and denies people with pre-existing mental illness the health insurance they need to treat their illness?
Have You Ever Seen Such Signs? On a ski lift in Taos, NM: 'No jumping from the lift. Survivors will be prosecuted.' Official sign near door: Door Alarmed. Handprinted sign nearby: Window frightened. Road sign seen on the island of Cyprus (translation of the Greek): 'Caution: Road Slippery from Grapejuice' A sign advertising a Company wide skiing race: Let's see who can go downhill the fastest. Sign in King's Canyon in California. 'Slow Parking Ahead' A billboard seen next to the highway, travelling from Johannesburg International Airport into town. An Ad for BMW showing a photo of a BMW 328i convertible with the roof and all the windows down. The caption reads:' Our hardware runs better without WINDOWS!!!' Two signs found on top of one another in a country kitchen several years ago: Restrooms to the left. Please wait for the hostess to seat you. Seen in a health food store. "Shoplifters will be beaten over the head with an organic carrot" "Children left unattended will be towed at parents expense." I went to a little hole in the wall restaurant: the sign read: Women are not served here. You have to bring your own. Link: http://www.ahajokes.com/ads08.html
It doesn't matter what we decide to create/change or enhance to better our needs/wants, which benefits us, it will always have some kind of effect on us or the environment around us. For example Coal it burns and somehow affects our health ( don't know how that has ever happened to anyone, never heard of an example) nor have I ever noticed the burning of coal ever, yet benefit s our day to day necessities ( electricity...ect...)
I feel so happy to have been born in Belgium, Westearn-Europe and not in the USA. People here accept and respect other people's differences. Being fired for being LGBT is unheard of here. It's even illegal here to discriminate against people with a different sexual orientation or gender identity. People who disagree with respecting LGBT people's gender identity or sexual orientation are shunned here. Nobody makes a problem if someone in their friend circle is gay-bi-lesbian-pan or trans. LGBT people here don't have to fear discrimination on a job sollicitation. It's illegal to discriminate based on sexual orientation or gender identity. People being killed for their sexual orientation or gender identity is also unheard of here. Religious folks cannot spread their believes publicly. They can only talk about their religion in small, intimate circles like the church which almost nobody visits here anyway. Almost nobody is religious here. Especially not the younger generations. Spreading your religious believes on the work floor or in any other public place is illegal here. Our health care insurance, which everyone has here and is very affordable, covers all kinds of procedures and doesn't exclude procedures for transgender related care. It's illegal to do so. This is a very very liberal area and I am very greatful to live in such an accepting and supportive environment and not in the USA.
-7I personally believe that gender reassignment surgeries and hormone replacement therapy should be included in the health care treatments of every health insurer. Being transgender is not a mental ilness. Transition related procedures should be seen as life-saving and necessary.
