It’s only fair that when a white person kills a black person, it could be considered a hate crime but when a black person kills an Asian person, it should equally be potentially considered a hate crime. The term “hate crime” is simply a method to apply punishment differently depending on who committed the crime. If we have different criteria for crime unequally applied, then the system breaks down and justice is no longer blind,

Since judges are in fact allowed to throw out a conviction by the jury regardless of the guilty verdict, the justice system proves that jurors are unnecessary in a conviction. So in fact- the judge doesn't even have to agree with the jury. Despite the judge asking for the jury's verdict. Otherwise the judge wouldn't have the choice to throw out the conviction and would just allow a retrial be granted through the appellate process,
