+10Have you ever read a book that was SO GOOD that it "ruined" reading for you for awhile because no other book could compare?
I deleted my Facebook account today. It was too stressful... yet I kept opening the app, constantly, almost on autopilot. I think it's for the better, at least for me. Do you still use Facebook?
There's a boy named Carol. He's made fun of throughout high school because of his weird name, and so he's become very shy. But he has a crush on a girl and works up the courage to ask her out. She says yes, and he's so happy. After years of dating, he works up the courage to ask her to marry him. She says yes, and he's so happy. When their first child is born, a girl, he lets the wife name her, because he still feels so lucky and fortunate just to be with her. The wife names the baby "Love". Love grows up and now she starts to be made fun of because of her weird name. She comes home from school one day screaming at her dad, asking why he gave her such a stupid name. He takes blame, wanting to protect his wife, and apologizes. Love says he ruined her life. She shoots him and runs away. Finally the wife comes home, sees Carol lying on the ground, screams and runs to him. "Carol! What happened?!" He beckons her to come closer, and with his dying breath he whispers in her ear: "Shot through the heart. And you're to blame. Darling you gave Love a bad name."
+10Most people who say they’re ‘not a dog/cat/whatever pet person’ would probably find an animal of that species that they would enjoy the company of if they gave it a shot. Allergies and phobias are exempt.
Someone once told me that the definition of Hell is that “on that last day you have on earth, the person you became will meet the person you could have become.” The question is, who is the person you will face when your time comes? Will you have accomplished things that you wanted to accomplish? Would you have seen the things you wanted to see? Would you have experienced everything that you have always wanted to experience? I don’t know about you, but one of my biggest fears is feeling regret at the end of my life, knowing that I did not do all that I could have done. The average lifespan of a person living in the United States is 27,375 days. If you are 25 years old, you have 18,250 days left to live. If you are 50, you have 9,125 days to live. If you are 65, you have 3,650 days to live. How many days do you have left before it is too late to live the life you want? Despite the popular quote stating otherwise, there comes a time when it IS too late to be the person you could've been. I’ve got at most 14,600 days left to live my life, and I'm going to make them count by continuing to try to make a difference in this messed up world, traveling, reading books which make me think, spending time with people I love, and more. What do you want to do in the time you have left? If you died today, would you be satisfied with how you lived your life?
