-21 Crying is almost always associated with sadness but almost any emotion (joy, anger, laughter, fear etc.) can be felt strongly enough to move us to tears, amirite?

Crying is just being overwhelmed with emotion.

and sadness is the emotion we feel the most

It's probably the emotion that overwhelms us the most. And it's the one we try to repress, which is why we end up losing control more.

That would be anger for me, try hard not to be angry and when I am it comes out that way. I know it's not good and I'm working on that

Yeah, if I don't get a handle on it and control my explosion (if there's going to be one) then I can find myself crying with fury while yelling. Hasn't happened since I was a teenager but I imagine it's still deep down there dormant.

Nothing is More annoying than having an heated argument and feeling like having To cry feels like it invalidates your points.

I'll need to find the study, but the study showed that crying was gendered, but not in the way that you might think. The study found women cried much more easily from sadness or anger than men. But men cried more easily from joy or pride. You can leave those results up to interpretation, since I don't think much has been established in the way of theories, and such theories wouldn't be sufficiently tested to draw conclusions. But I can think of like 5 hypotheses regarding this. The main takeaway, I would say, is not to assume men are less distressed just because they cry less.

That's the thing about crying! We assume it is sadness? However, it can be one or more feelings within it too!

I think I've cried more from happiness and laughter more than I've cried from sadness.

I can tear up from surprise, especially weird coincidences with no identifiable sadness!
