Actually the people may vote for a president but that doesn't mean that their electors has to. So pretty much, the people's vote doesn't count. If the incompetent people voted for someone the elector doesn't believe should get the vote, then they won't vote in their favor. So you shouldn't get upset with the unintelligent voters, but the electors. People are stupid, even the forefathers knew that.

That's why I think there should be some sort of basic voter competence test that a person should take before registering to vote.
