+403 Why do tv stations censor only the last part of the words? You can still figure out what word(s) the person is/are saying, amirite?

There's no need for "is/are". It will remain "is" regardless of whether "word" is in singular or plural form, seeing as "person" is your subject and is in singular form. You're welcome.
