+91 If women have the right to vote and hold office, it's only just that we should also be subjected to the same obligation as all men and be forced to sign up for draft, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Nobody should have to do that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's true, so true. But we have it, in case we get to a place in war where we really need it, and it's sexist to only have men sign up.

(I'm not sure if reply buttons existed back then, or if I just didn't know they existed, 'cause I'd only been here five days...).

Where the fuck do you live?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

U Mad?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

In america you're required to sign up for the draft in case there is an extreme shortage/need for soldiers. If you don't you get fined like $2,000 or something.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I think it can be like $250,000 and/or five years in jail

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I knew it was five years in jail but I wasn't for sure about the fine.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

WAT? That's one of the most stupidest laws I've ever heard of. I'm glad I live in a country where we're protected from drafts.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Weird how when equality means something bad, suddenly women are against it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Fucking feminazis

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Sssssshhhh!!! That's offensive to Nazis!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Men get paid more.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

We'll sign up for draft as soon as it's not our responsibility to keep the population going, thank you very much.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Like it's not men's responsibility either?

While it may sound sexist, women are generally considered more of the "stay at home" sex, and there's reason for that. If there were to be a war that became serious enough that the majority of our soldiers were dying, then men would be the ones shipped out. To repopulate, you need more women. A man can father several children, with different women, but a woman can only mother so many. That's an old way of thinking, but it's still true. But this doesn't even really matter because the possibility of having a draft is very low nowadays. The fact that men have to fill out the form when they're 18 is more of a formality than anything. There are plenty of both men and women who are willing to join the army.

Some reasons why women should not be forced to enlist in the draft (or even join Infantry divisions in my opinion) is because yes as someone stated above, women are generally more emotional and could succumb to the stresses of war much easier. (sorry if i offended some of you by saying that) ALSO and more importantly, some men would go out of their lengths to be a "hero" and try to save the woman in their squad, and would possibly compromise the whole mission. p.s not every guy is a guaranteed draft. you obviously gotta go through a physical examination, and see how good you are in training. JUST BECAUSE you signed up for selective service, does NOT in any way mean you will be on the front lines any time soon. Put away your Call of Duty boys.

Women are able to join the military by choice. Saying that the men would try to be a "hero" could happen even if women weren't drafted.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

no one should have to sign up for the draft man woman or she male

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Oh yeah that will work out. We'll have no army when getting attacked by some country because drafts are "mean" or some shit like that. Grow the fuck out of your Candlyland world.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

(:(): theres no draft now and there is a military you dumb ignorant piece of shit

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Try telling that to Congress and the Supreme Court.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I mean besides the whole equality of sex thing more women in army = more accidental pregnancies. Plus girls go on their periods So if they were drafted the army would need to provide a whole lot more things.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If both women and men were drafted, what would happen to a child if both of his parents went to war? There has to be at least someone left to care for their family.
