+295 So Venus the planet was named after The Roman version of Aphrodite, Mars of Ares, Jupiter of Zeus, and Neptune of Posiedon. So if Pluto was named after Hades.. and Pluto's not a planet anymore, what does that make Hades? amirite?

BUT Mars' moons were named after Ares' sons. That's just weird.

Ares and Mars are the same person, the name just changed with the culture. Mars is the Roman god of war, and Ares is Greek=]

I know that, obviously, but I just think it's weird that the Roman god's moons were named after the Greek god's sons. I actually made a post about this ages ago :D http://www.amirite.net/83520

Yeah I saw that comment there when I was scanning the old posts, but it felt weird commenting from forever ago. And yeah I was what you said makes sense. I dunno how I interpreted your comment. Maybe the Greek's version sounded cooler?

maybe Mars didn't have sons? And yeah, fear and terror are good names for a war god's planet's moons. and, FFR, don't worry about commenting on my posts from forever ago :D it honestly pretty much makes my day.

Ha okay. Now I have the odd compulsion to make a comment on all of your posts, bwahaha. I'll just give them all a B- and be done with them/it=D

Well yes, I AM the Dark Lord

by Anonymous 13 years ago

*meekly* yes, my... Voldemort.

It makes Hades, Hades. Pluto was named after it. Doesn't make them one and the same. Excellent thought though.

Hades was banned from Mount Olympus... Pluto isn't considered a planet anymore...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I like your thinking :D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Haha yes I agree. I think Pluto just took awhile to notice that

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It makes Hades awesome still.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(PoliticalTeen.): that is undoubtedly true.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Hades was never an Olympian god. Guess that's why Pluto's not a planet anymore. Hades was just too bad ass for the sissy Olympians to handle lol jk kind of

Lord Hades/Pluto was honored enough to have the planet of Pluto named after him. Even if Pluto isn't a planet anymore, it has nothing to do with Lord Hades/Pluto. It is still an honor for him to have Pluto named after him.
