There is a clear difference, but that's not what I was referring too. I was raised to hold door's for people, I enjoy buying friends meals and drinks (especially if it's something they've never had before), get people gifts when I find something inexpensive they might like. In general try to be a nice guy, and spread what wealth I have. Most people accept this as it is, and many repay it in kind. But girls have had a bad habit of thinking this means something because they are used to being treated badly. As a guy this is frustrating, because then the whole friendship becomes awkward and can be ruined. How is it fine to treat a guy friend to a steak dinner and some beers, but it has to mean something if it's a girl? It's bullshit really.

ya too bad there aren't more people like that because women aren't used to being treated nicely anymore and that's probably where the misconception comes from.

Because most guys aren't like you at all :( I mean the last guy i was with always called me names and put me down :/ So yeah i think any girl that gets you is lucky

I'm used to being treated nice, so I can't tell the difference between flirting and being nice. I just assume every guy is being nice.

This happens to me all the time. Yes, it may be true that you won't find us attractive because we aren't the jocks that most girls want. But, there are guys out there that has a nice personality (like the guys above including I) and is a gentlemen but most girls ( I'm not saying every girl ) are just attracted to those who are rich, or, have six-packs, and things like that.

I actually find jocks annoying...they're the human equivalent to sheep-followers. I prefer "nerds" because they're smarter, wittier, nicer, and just overall more intersting...and gentlemanly qualities make ANY guy more attractive.

I guess it just takes time for fate to lead these people who are perfect together to actually be together because right now, no girl wants a "nerd/gentleman" like me D:. But I can wait for the perfect girl for me. I know she'll come. :)

Honestly, I wish more guys would be like you, OP. Sure, your actions don't mean anything more than you just being a gentleman, but I know plenty of girls that do fall for guys that act like a gentleman.

The guy I like is just like you, and one of the biggest reasons I like him is because he's such a gentleman. Just keep doing what you're doing. It'll pay off when you actually *do* like one of the girls you're being nice to(:

I'd choose a gentleman over a rich jock with the body of a god. A gentleman won't refer to me as his bitch or hoe and actually respsect me for who I am and not just be after what's in my pants. My boyfriend sure doesn't have the best body but he's a gentleman and one of the sweetest men I've ever met. I think I'll be keeping him.
