i hate to ruin your fun, but the reason you are supposed to shake ketchup bottles is because they want to make sure that all the ingredients are mixed together, so that when you use it, you get a bit of the whole product, and not just one layer. With a ketchup packet, it doesn't matter, since you use the whole thing at once anyway.

Bottles carry a lot and most of the stuff doesn't really move anywhere. Usually when you have a packet, you shake the stuff down to open it, plus there's not a lot and is intended for temporary use instead of sitting the fridge door.

its kinda common sense to squeeze the packet . . . along with entertainment, you dont get all the icky tamato juice
