+534 The fear of death is a bit irrational. When you're dead, you won't be able to care if you're dead or not because, hey, you'll be dead. amirite?

It's not fear of *being* dead, it's fear of the cessation of life. All (well, 99%) biological organisms are programmed to keep their lives going.

i used to be really scared of dying, but then i thought about it that way and it lessened my fear

I'm not afraid of *death*, per se, but I'm afraid of *dying*. Like, slowly and painfully.

this posts not that bad of an idea but when your dead thats it theres nothing, nada, just blank nothingness for eternity the world keeps going without you like you werent even there even if you believe in heaven its still scary to think about.

Its scary to some because its unknown what really happens in death..

This is exactly what I think about when I feel I am making a bad decision. It is like hey, when I am dead, I won't know to care.

Death is a silly fear. Dying isn't. It must be a bit scary. Drowning, heart attack, car accident... What do those last moments feel like? I'm a bit scared.

I don't fear death itself, it's just the fact that I can't imagine it. When I try to think of me existing after death, it's like a bleak, empty nothingness that makes my brain hurt.

I think most people are afraid of dying before they've done everything they want to do in this life.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm afraid of the pain and suffering I am going to have before I die from maybe a shot, a stab, or something else.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't fear death, I just dislike the fact that I won't know what happens 100 years from now.

i was really scared of dying when i was little, but after a while i got over it just thinking i wouldnt have to worry about it because i was so young. But then just last summer 2 people i know, both nineteen years old, passed away and brought it all back. It stills scares me, its hard to imagine not being here. I completely believe in God and heaven and all that but its still scary not knowing what the whole experience will be like

This is so stupid. Nobody is afraid of how they will feel when they're dead. They fear not being able to live anymore. moron.

Aristole, I believe, said that no one should fear death because it could be the greatest thing to happen to you. That's the way I like to look at it.
