YES!!!! I hate talking at the hair dressers!! I usually just try to find magazines to read so they don't talk to me. Then I switch hairdressers every couple appointments because they begin to know too much about me and want to know detailed parts of my life and I just don't care to share with a stranger who isn't even interested and is just asking because it's their job!

actually, they don't have to talk about your life, they do it because they are friendly people, and they want to get to know you as a person, not a client. You sound slightly paranoid. and anyways, if they are a stranger, why not tell them things you wouldn't tell other people? because if you change hairdressers all the time you won't see them again..

oh yeah, and I don't find it awkward, because my hairdresser is my mom, that's her job :D

It sucks when you try to stay quiet and not talk, hoping they get the hint...and then go on to tell you their life story and stop cutting/dying your hair (pausing) to say something "dramatic" and ask if you understand. If I wanted to talk and listen to all your shit, or tell you all mine when all I want is mt hair done, I'd see a hairdresser that's a psychiatrist, or I'd become a psychiatrist that only treats cosmotologists!!!
