+594 Why is it that in school we don't learn about current events such as the oil spill or global warming? amirite?

thats weird...my school has an elective for that

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Me too.

We learned about climate change in meteorology. I already knew though. But you're right we should learn more current events

by Anonymous 13 years ago

We discussed that stuff in my History class, although we didn't exactly take notes on it or anything.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Hmm my school actually does we talked about the oil spill in science and history. And my whole science class was about global warming.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

teachers are too lazy to learn about it. They would rather just teach the same thing every year

by Anonymous 13 years ago

We talked about current stuff in history. Every Friday. :P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

we did talk about that stuff..

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They can't really fully teach you about current events though, because that would require constantly changing the curriculum with very little notice. If you really want to learn about it watch the news and/or read the paper (or indeed, the newspapers website).

i learned about it in school.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

get a better history teacher.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, because students decide who teaches what class.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

hahah i'm kidding, although at my school it is possible to switch your teacher if they suck. in my history class we learned about the oil spill, us involvement in Iraq and Iran, and other current events

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I do at my school in my World Geography class. Every day we talk about current events for the first half of class. I'm pretty sure that every social studies class at my school does that. We also have an elective that's just about current events.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

We did that when I took Advanced Eastern World this past year.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yah my social studies teacher sucks... I don't learn anything current in school >:( everyone is so ignorrant about that stuff at my school

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well we have discussions about current events but we never have real lessons about them. It's actually impossible to have a full blown lesson about a current event. You wanna know why? Because things that will happen tomorrow aren't already in text books. Teachers can't prepare to teach students about stuff that hasn't already happened.

Most schools do, and if your school doesn't there are always other outlets to find the information that you want. Besides which, global warming isn't even real. It was made to seem real by falsified research by the scientists conducting the studies. Yes, there is climate change but the change is just part of a cycle that has been going on since the beginning of time. You can't tell me that back in the ages of dinosaurs when the climate rised that it was caused by SUV's and man-made power plants. It is all natural and before there was the "global warming" trend, there was a "global cooling" trend.

Hmm our school has it for seniors.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You could just follow it on your own. It's not that hard.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

We learn that at my school...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ummm...current events class?
