Well, obviously the skin of drawn cartoon people is yellow since the main colours included in the box are red, yellow, and blue, and variations of said colours. Yellow looks the closest to skin colour.

I always thought it was because yellow is considered to be a bright, happy color; doesn't that make more sense than a lack of variety in colors? Too much yellow actually induces anxiety, but a splash here and there is mood-lifting.
