It's not that we treat lobsters badly. What people do to lobsters (treat them as nothing more than animals) is the norm. When an animal is cute, it gets concessions. It's not people treat all animals like cuddly friends, but it its ugly, it deserves to die, it's that you get extra if you're cute. Also, it gets respect if it can hurt us back. But if that animal is defeated (claws tied, in this case), it becomes like spoils of war.
