Thou horn headed son of a nun!

I'll bet that Shakespeare created at least one word in one of the posts on the Homepage right now.

No you're just uneducated. Shakespeare is brilliant. His work is not only hilarious or tragic but it is four centuries old and still incredibly relevant to modern society. It's simply fascinating.

Shakespeare is underrated by most teenagers, but overrated by english teachers. When I think of all the amazing writers I completely missed doing in school because I was studying my 5th Shakespeare play I cringe.

People overanalize it and it makes it bad. It was written for entertainment! Its supposed to be entertaining! I don't really think it has some hidden meaning. I do think romeo and Juliet is overrated. A guy on the rebound marries a 13 year old and then they both die. Great love story. I act, mainly Shakespeare. I have learned that the only problem with it is the way they teach it in school.

On a side note, he invented hundreds of words we use everyday, critical, eyeball, puke, and much more.

I'm currently studying and doing a production of The Tempest. You want to tell me Shakespeare is overrated?! Shakespeare is amazing!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No way! I just finished the tempest! I was just an air fairy, but it was so much fun! And I was on stage a lot, I just didn't say anything. Who are you? (f the don't move genders I'm guessing Miranda or possibly Aeriel, but in my version not enough guys showed up so most characters were girls.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The very small part of Adrian, nonetheless amazing. I auditioned for Miranda and Ariel though. And Trinculo, which is a part I'd want to play in the future.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Good enough. you have a name right? lol. Trinculo seems like a fun part to play, I would practice comedic stuff if you want it in the future. (I'm answer a lot of theater and acting on yahoo answers and can't help giving advice sometimes, sorry if it's annoying)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yep, having a name satisfied me very much. And I've practiced being comedic for a while, but I kind of bombed my audition. And I'm the youngest in the cast so having me in a main role would've been kind of weird anyway.

Shakespeare, rewrote history to justify an English invasion of Scotland.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

you, sir, could not be more wrong.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

A man who could turn one line of a play into a theme to be studied endlessly can never be overrated.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'd like to see YOU try writing things like that.

Problem with teaching Shakespeare in high school is that it's meant to be SEEN! Not read! :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, Shakespeare plays are really deep and meaningful, often hilarious, when you can understand them. But teachers in high school have you analyze the shit out of every Shakespeare line in order for you to understand it, expecting you to agree that it's amazing. I think it should be more of a personal choice; Shakespeare laid the groundwork for pretty much every modern playwright today, there are tons of terms we wouldn't know if not for him, but I still don't enjoy watching Shakespeare plays as much as modern plays. And I shouldn't be expected to. That's why I think he's overrated. It's kind of like the Beatles. Great band, I love almost everything they do, laid the foundation for modern rock muic, but there's lots of music out there that I'd rather listen to than the Beatles. I don't think the Beatles are the best band ever, and (get ready for the hate comments) I don't think Shakespeare is the best playwright ever.
