+1,320 There's a page on Facebook called "Make it illegal to protest at military funerals!" I think we should just make it illegal to protest at funerals, period. amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I agree that protesting at a funeral is a shitty, douchey thing to do and it's totally disrespectful, but you can't take away people rights. You take away one right like that and pretty soon all our rights will be taken.

i'm pretty sure people just don't protest at many funerals besides military ones. and @220894 (Scupernong): just because they take away a small right (to protest at military funerals) that doesn't even affect the majority of people, doesn't mean all our rights will be taken away. i think you are exaggerating a little. and you are right. it is a super dickish thing to do.

Like the westboro baptist church? (Youtube it if you don't know about them.) They disgust me.

The Westboro Baptist Church is a group of idiots. When I imagine Hell, I imagine people like them, and Hitler, being there. I cannot believe what they say and do. Soldiers fight for their country when they don't even have to. They are people to be honored. I also cannot believe that they teach their young children what they are preaching, and the children don't understand it. The fact that people like this exist really makes me sick. Everything they do is wrong. They've even kicked out members of their own family.

Whoa, whoa, whoooa... I'm not like "GO ARMY!!" but I'm not like "GOD THE ARMY SHOULD JUST DIE," either. I don't support or hate the army. Sure, I'll send in my food and everything to aid them not because they're the army and they "deserve my respect", but because I just don't want them to die of hunger, because I'm human, and they're human, and they're not any better than the rest of us. We are all equal, so why treat them as royalty?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I never said to treat them as royalty. I said to honor them. There's many different ways to honor a person, whether that be with helping them out, or just saying thanks once in a while. I feel that those in the army should be honored to an extent because they do so much for our country. I certainly don't mean to say that they should be treated as royalty.

"For our country"? You mean for the government? Frankly the other side isn't really bothering us that much... Sure, 9/11, but the only thing they've really done is destroy their own country. I say let 'em be. It's not any of our business. If we keep helping people the way we do, our economy is gonna drop even more, and when America gets the flu in their economy, the rest of the world catches the plague in theirs.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well, that's your opinion. And you're right about the economy.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

True, it is my opinion and I'm not enforcing it on anyone (or not trying to, anyways). But yeah, our economy's dying. :/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

As of now, all of us are powerless to do anything about it.

Counterfeit money. PROFIT!! :P

the thing is if you alter the right of free speech in America than it could start a wave of restrictions and the people who are used to the "say whatever we want" kinda right will not stand for it. that's why their not banning it, they thought about it but it would cause a whole shitstorm. and the westboro baptist church only protest for money, they go to schools and funerals to get people angry so that one snaps and assaults them then they sue. almost half of the organization are lawyers, their just common trolls

I laughed. Audibly. While imagining boycotting a funeral.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They didn't boycott it. They stood across the street with signs saying "Thank God for dead soldiers." They mocked the pain of family members and said the soldiers got what they deserved--soldiers who died to protect their very right to protest. It's nothing to laugh about, whether you thought they were ridiculous or not.
