crepe is pronounced "cr-ep" not "cray-p" amirite?
by Anonymous12 years ago
I don't even understand how you can NW this...
by Anonymous12 years ago
It just shows ignorance, you CAN pronounce it "crape", but it is actually pronounced "crep"; and people don't even look it up before NWing, it's stupid.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Exactly, it's like saying "America" is pronounced "Merica"
For God's sake French was my first language, it's "crep"

1. I agree, it is pronounced cr(ehp).
2. If it's meant to be a post that one can't logically NW, I don't think it's such a great post. That's like saying, "You're on amirite, amirite?" or "You speak English, amirite?"
3. I'm not saying it isn't a legitimate post, but people can NW it because they don't pronounce it like that in English.

AH so confused I hear and accept it either way, but I think the former sounds more French

When I was younger, for some reason I thought it was "crap." Then I got in trouble for saying crap :(
...But according to a quick Google search, English people say crape, French people say crep.
by Anonymous12 years ago
And considering that the food itself is French, crep would be the correct pronunciation.
by Anonymous12 years ago
It depends on where you're from. For example, the word "real" mean the same thing and are spelled the same in English and in Portuguese, but are pronounced completely different.

It's not "creep"!?
by Anonymous12 years ago
This. One of the most irritating things.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Vous avez raison! I can't stand it when people absolutely butcher French words.
by Anonymous12 years ago
That shit cray-p
by Anonymous12 years ago
See, people are no-waying it because it's how it's pronounced in English. But it's not english. That's like saying Spaghetti is english. No, it's italian, just like 'Crepp' is French, so it's pronounced that way. I agree with Mozzer, when people butcher other languages it hurts me inside.

I feel really ignorant now for not knowing this.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Generally of the whole post is in English and doesn't mention French, people are going to vote on it as people who speak English.
