Depends on the band. Some bands are famous for their musicianship. Others are famous for their lyrical genius.

If I wanted lyrics over anything else, I'd read poetry.

The OP and the consequent votes pretty much sum up all that's wrong with music today.
It's because of all you annoying ass teenyboppers that there's nothing but pseudo electronic/ house/ dance shit in the charts.

You'll sing accapella?

Bad lyrics can ruin a song, but in a good song music is more important. Plus, a song without lyrics is better than one without music(not that poetry is bad).

Has no one in this post listened to Friday?
by Anonymous12 years ago
That is an example where both have gone wrong haha

Music is music. It doesn't need lyrics. Lyrics can enhance or detract, but music is the main component.

Wow if this is voted down so much, then why do all people hate "Friday"? It actually has a pretty good beat, and music, I guess, but the lyrics and music video suck. Anyways there's no song without lyrics, and there's no song without music. A song without music would be poetry, and a song without lyrics would be, well, just music, or a tune i guess. Anyways it depends on my mood; if I wanted to dance or if at a party, I prefer the music to be good and some trashy lyrics, but if I was depressed or sad or just wanted to actually "listen" to the song, I prefer the lyrics. Right, sorry; I talk too much.
