+277 If it is socially acceptable for a girl to have a short haircut like a boy, then it should be socially acceptable for a boy to have long hair, amirite?

It is

I know it pretty much is, but it should be more accepted in the workplace. I understand food, but they can secure it and wear a net rather than chopping it off

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh, I don't accept it. It usually looks ratty and gross. Ladies know how to take care of their hair. Plus, there are double standards both ways, so it's all good.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I agree, as long as they don't make it into a mess.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's not really socially acceptable for girls to have short hair...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Bitch, please. But no. I see your point. Some places still think it's unacceptable. Very few places. But still...

If its so socially acceptable for a guy to have long hair, then why i cant i walk down the street without people yelling at me from cars to "get a haircut fag" or cant walk around my school without being told to get a haircut, and everytime i talk to someone they must comment on how long my hair is and that it should be shorter?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I had a pixie cut and everyone thought I was a lesbian, even though I showed no interest in girls whatsoever. It's just people being rude and believing in stereotypes. How long is your hair?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm a girl and people assume that I'm a guy just because my hair is 3 inches long. I'm told everyday that I should let it grow out. Everyone at my school assumes I'm gay. You're not the only person suffering, but it's your choice to let yours grow out just like it's mine to cut mine off. If you can't handle people's rudeness then go get it cut.

Nice logic, OP. I supposed you think since it's acceptable for girls to wear a standard Italian suit, it should be acceptable for men to wear dresses too. Anyway, it is socially acceptable for a guy to have long hair. But if you're ugly and it looks bad, you'll get made fun of. No one is calling Fabio from the Old Spice commercials a fag. Same with girls having short hair.

Gotta love them double standards

Nobody knows this is the guy from "Leverage".

by Anonymous 12 years ago

How is that possible? Elliot is a boss

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hell yeah it is.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's acceptable, but my from experiences 90% of guys with long hair shouldn't be allowed to have it. The people who can pull it off look good, but a lot can't.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't think anyone needed to know what your "from" experiences.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Idk why, but that's the funniest grammar mistake I've seen in a while..

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Damn, I usually try to have good grammar on here but I suppose this one slipped past me.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Fuck society. Have whatever hair cut you want but realize that people often comment and/or ridicule others who are different.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It should be(and usually is) socially acceptable, that doesn't mean it's always attractive.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I find it unattractive. Not particularly sure why, probably the same reason I think black guys are yummy. COOL STORY: Once me and my friends were discussing this topic (This VERY one!) and a kid who didn't like us much to begin with, with tons of hair streaming down past his shoulder blades, turns around and goes "THANKS Lucy (my friend)", flips her off and walks away.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

To me, it IS attractive if the hair is nice and well taken care of. If his hair is gross, then it's not accepted. But it's also not socially acceptable for girls to have gross long hair either.
