+513 Dear Panic At the Disco, Exactly what time is "Nine in the Afternoon"? It's either Nine in the morning, or nine at night. Amirite?

Last I checked, what you call '9 at night' is actually past noon. If you still don't get it, after noon literally means any time that is past noon.

The song is about drugs....so I wouldn't judge the song lyrics. It's not supposed to make sense.

The time nine in the afternoon is when you get high....

4:20 is when you get high. :P Just kidding, i'm not sure. Since when does PATD sing about drugs?!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Since when is PATD about making sense? If you'll look at the other names of their songs, they don't make sense either.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, they do actually. They have a weird meaning behind them, it's just hard to see. Hahah

i think that's the point, OP.

Actually, the songs about them being in Vegas, and at 9 at night, the weather feels like its 12 in the afternoon.

9 in the afternoon is 4:05. Add 4 with 05 to get 9.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

...9:00 AM. nine in the afternoon. As in afternoon. Before midnight, after noon/midday?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

or wait...nvm I'm confused. Who cares great song. Though I kind of have to disagree with some comenters. They have some weird titles, but a lot make pretty clear sense. It's just not obvious. I write sins not tragedies is a good example.

I'm pretty sure that's the point of the song haha.

Okay really? This song is NOT about drugs. When they were recording they're new album they were in the studio for hours without any windows or anything so when they left they had no clue what time it was and one of them said it feels like its seven in the afternoon. They liked it and changed it to nine in the afternoon to make it work better with the other lyrics. They said it themselves on an interview.
