We are blaming BP for this oil spill when it is our fault (America's fault) for needing so much oil. If it happened to any other company we would be blaming them. If we didn't need so much oil we wouldn't be in this mess. America is the most oil dependent country in the world and this oil spill shows us that we are to dependent on oil.

We are blaming BP because they didn't have a plan in case this happened. Whoever let them start drilling without asking "Hey, what will you do if something breaks" is also hugely to blame. Shit breaks, that's not a big deal. When something breaks and you don't fix it and it starts ruining other things - that's a big deal - that's why we are so pissed at BP. The US is dependent on almost everything, all we do is consume. We need electricity and oil and all of those other finite resources. But blaming an oil spill on the consumers is stupid and insulting. The people didn't *force* BP to drill for oil. The people also trusted BP not to screw it up like this. Your logic is flawed and its conclusion irritates me.

Yes it is our fault for being so oil dependent, but BP could have easily prevented this, or had a plan in case something like this ever did happen.

Theres a big difference between slandering a company and "slandering" an ocean. One is legal and can be *slightly* fixed while the other can only be managed as *best* as possible.
