+257 It's kind of amusing how people complain about their bag of chips being full of air. The air is to protect the chips, people! I don't know about you, but I would much rather have a bag of chips and air, than a bag of crumbs. Amirite?

Actually, I believe the bags start out filled up, but the chips settle and it results in air in the bag.

That's incorrect. The air is there to stop the chips being crushed during shipping. Think about hundreds of bags of chips stuffed in crates and shipped around the world - as the OP wrote, we would have bags of crumbs to eat instead. If you want to know how much is in the bag, that's what the weight written on the bag is for. The companies can't lie about that.

That is just an excuse for the companies to put fewer chips in the packets.

My chips are always crumbled anyway.

Well, maybe if they filled the bag with enough chips then it would be too packed for the chips to move or crumble.

I 100% agree the air is a good thing, and people should obviously know the bag isn't going to be filled to the top with chips, but when I open my bag to find out I got 4-5 chips I get pissed.

This might be a tad weird, but I might enjoy eating the full bag of delicious crumbs with a spoon. It sounds very tasty...

Yeah, I was thinking that, too.
