I assume you're referring to "Lakeview Gusher" and after a little bit of research I learned why the current one is worse. The Lakeview one was a land gusher, so all the oil was just shooting up into the air and falling onto the land. This land was very rural (early 20th century) so it had little effects besides on that concentrated area. Our current oil spill is obviously in the water, this poses a bigger problem. Much more people depend on fishing and such for the daily living. It has affected large cities, primarily New Orleans and many more people than the other one. Yes, Lakeview Gusher spit out more oil, but its damages are far less than the BP spill.

That list doesn't include the one I was talking about (because it really wasn't a spill). I'm sure you know this, but it's difficult to judge how much oil there actually is. From the estimates I've googled, the BP spill is right around the same as the Kuwait spill. From what I know (and this could just be the media playing it up), the effects of the BP spill are greater than the other one because of the effects on people that rely on the Gulf as their source of income

Yeah I've heard a bunch of different estimates, plus BP was artificially lowering the amount of oil spilled and keeping data from scientists... I wouldn't doubt that this spill did more damage then the Kuwait one even if less oil was spilled.

The reason why this is so funny is because: 1 kanye west joke, 2 kanye was wrong when he said beyonce's video was better than taylor swifts, and this post is purposely wrong about the oil spills, get it? :D
