That's because unlike British people, the queen doesn't give us a spanking if we don't do as we're told

What song is that? Or, some Americans are idiots with no understanding of the events leading to their country's creation and history, and some know the history that needs to be learned and taught. Coincidentally, every country in the world, I'd put money on, has some complete idiots and some people with knowledge of their surroundings.

WHOSE BROAD STRIPS AND BRIGHT STARS THROUGH THE PERILOUS FIGHT. O'ER THE RAMPARTS WE WATCHED, WERE SO GALLANTLY STREAMING. AND THE ROCKETS RED GLARE! THE BOMBS BURSTING IN AIR! GAVE PROOF THROUGH THE NIIIIIIGHT, THAT OUR FLAG WAS STILL THERE! O SAY DOES THAT STAR SPANGLED BANNER YET WAVE, FOR THE LAND OF THE FREE AND THE HOME OF THE BRAVE

Oh, say can you see through the dawns early light. what so proudly we hail at the twilights last gleaming. whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perolis fight. o're the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming, through the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. oh say, does that star spangled banner yet wave? for the land of the free, and the home of the brave.

Nah, I know all the words. Being in your school's advanced choir that's invited to a lot of places to sing (quite often the Star Spangled Banner) really pays off, huh? Even if you do have to deal with a psychotic director who throws shoes.

My daughter's birthday is really close to Independence Day, so I have sung The Star Spangled Banner to her as a lullaby her entire life. At one point it was the only song that would soothe her. She is a decendant of Abraham Lincoln (her dad's side) -among many other nationalities- and I want her to always be proud of her heritage. Knowing the song that represents our country is just as important as knowing all the other countries you call your own blood. ~Proud my daughter is a true mutt of English, German, Egyptian, French, Italian, Irish, Native American, Polish, Scotish, Czech, Dutch, and some few others that are not quite remembered at this time.

I was stuck in a room full of people all singing the national anthem for no apparent reason this Saturday. I still don't know why we did that(it wasn't a sporting event or anything, we were just hanging out), but it was pretty awesome. Only a few people forgot the words. I wasn't one of them.

Um Mitch, it's the united states national anthem.

But no one really knows them, they're kind of awkwardly written anyways

When I first read the post I thought they were talking about twilight because it says twilight and dawn. I was disgusted because I thought they had replaced the words to our athem with twilight titles. Then I had to sing the song a couple of times to realize those were the right words.
