Whoa! I've said something VERY relative to this not too long ago. Never posted it on here, though. Mine was: "I get to be the third wheel! But hey, tricycles are so much more fun, though!"

i hate when people are annoying about third wheel. my boyfriend and i come from the same group of friends that has been together since elementary school so it's common for me and him to hang out with just one other friend and it's normal. then some random person will be like "sucks to be you man!" to the "third wheel". we are capable of keeping our hands off each other with our friends, it's not weird or anything.
