Sometimes there is no definitave winner

You just have to look at from what perspective it is talking about. The one that wins gets to right the history books.

I'm pretty sure we won the American Revolution (Sorry Brits) and the World Wars.

Well the World Wars were won by the Allies, not just America (sorry Yanks).

I know, but we still consider ourselves winners because we were on the winning side and we beat Japan.

In war, nobody really wins. Cliche comment for the day.

Haha. I remember once in grade five a kid asked the teacher who won the Civil War (USA) becuase all we learned about were the battles and their names. But actually, the whole reason we learn about wars is to learn their outcomes and how it effects us and our world today. (The whole point of history is to better understand our world and what is to come through historical trends and events.) That doesn't really mean who is the winner.

The only time a book actually stated the winner was when we were learning about the korean war. "America's efforts were in vain, however as North Vietnam won and took control of South Vietnam"
