+188 Why is it okay to bash religion, especially Christianity since it is the main one on here, but it's not okay to bash homosexuality? amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

thank you, thank you, thank you. My thoughts exactly.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Because you can chose your religion. You can't chose if you're homosexual or not.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Uh...Yeah you can.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Debatable

by Anonymous 13 years ago

....lol no you cannot....try choosing to be homosexual for a day (even if you think it's wrong) to see if you can be attracted to someone of the same sex. It's not a choice.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It shouldn't be alright to bash anyones morals or beliefs.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I agree, but it's not ok to criticize someone for being homosexual either.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well I'm not saying that we SHOULD bash it. I'm just saying that everyone defends homosexuals in posts bashing them, and agree and "hate on," for lack of a better phrase, Christians in posts bashing them.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Its not OK to bash ANYONE just because of who they are. I myself am Catholic, but and I am embarrassed and ashamed at the way people who claim to follow Christ, rather than follow the teachings of love, choose to hate and discriminate people unlike themselves. Often including gays, the poor, and people of color.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know some bisexuals who chose to be gay, or at least have married the same sex. I think it's a choice too. Because some people resist being gay their whole lives in the name of God, doesn't that make them straight? If they choose to live straight.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Thank you, it is a choice, and everyone's new defense is that it's in DNA. And even if that's true or not, we as humans, have morals and ethics and can choose right from wrong, so we have the ultimate decision.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Exactly. Thank you for having the guts to say it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Maybe some people chose to be, but a lot of gays hate themselves for who they are. People have committed suicide over being gay because they can't change.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

but people commit suicide for a lot of reasons... if you battle through it, you can do it (accidental rhyme). Everyone has problems.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That doesn't make it ok to make fun of them. It's not alright to mock something that people feel insecure about, whether it's homosexuality or being harrassed or beaten or whatever it may be.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's also not okay to make fun of or mock religions.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

...They never said it was...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

1) if it's in your DNA then why is it wrong? I thought God created us - meaning he made our DNA - so it therefore must be ok. 2) Why would anyone choose to be something that makes people hate you, get you fired, estrange you from your family, makes you depressed enough that you may eventually commit suicide, etc. The even idea of it being a choice is laughable.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It would be harder to change the gender you're attracted to than changing your religion, but I'm not so myself since I don't take part in church. But if you were straight, would it be easy trying to like the same sex? Just saying.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It would be harder for me to change my religion..you can't just feel something for a gender you're not attracted to.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's simple, Christians have rights. In many societies homosexuals still fight for their rights (for example, my own country). That's why it's okay to tease and criticize Christians, but homosexuals still need defending. When homosexuals begin to be treated as fully equal, it will be acceptable to "bash them".

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I totally agree with you. The would has gotten crazy. Schools are allowed to teach all "theories" (like the big bang, evolution...) except for the Creation. That's dumb.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well, if they teach the Creation, they would have to teach the beliefs of all religions, or things would get ugly. And if they do teach the beliefs of all religions, then things would still get ugly because people don't usually like hearing things that go against what they believe in.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

all im going to say is, i dont think we could ever be friends if you have views like that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Because people have reason and evidence to bash christianity, what do you have against homosexuality?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

exactly Christianity bashes homosexually so why can't we bash christianity ?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

look, all religions have good moral and bad morals, some more than other and we bash them for the bad parts. Homosexuality doesn't have any "bad morals" so why bash on them?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

People don't choose to be gay. Why would anyone want that?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

homophobe.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't care what you believe in, as long as it doesn't effect anyone else's happiness and human rights. After all, that's what freedom really means: To persue your own happiness as long as it doesn't effect someone else's human rights. I'm Roman Catholic, and I just get really annoyed at the Christians who shove their religion on others. I have a friend who is really religiously Christian AND gay, and he believes that God will forgive him in the end because God loves all his children. After the whole "it's a choice; it's genetic" debate, does it really matter? If they chose it, then whatever. Because religious people chose to be religious. Isn't it the same thing? And if it's not a choice, then that doesn't change anything. (Sorry for making this so long.)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Because homosexuals don't go around trying to convert others. What they really want is to just be allowed to get married and then they would leave us alone. Christians however, if they did manage to convert us, wouldn't just leave us alone. They'd continue preaching to us, and we'd have to go to church every Sunday...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's kinda the point of being a christian. If you just become a christian then never learn more about God or even go to church you're not a very good christian. Plus if you would convert to being a christian you would probably want to praise God and learn more about him.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's just it tho. I don't want to become Christian. I'm tired of everyone preaching the ways of God to me. I'm agnostic, and I'd like to be left alone when it comes to religion. Gay people don't do this to me. They just want to be able to get married, which in my opinion is their right. I think it's stupid that a guy and a girl can get together and get tax benefits, but a guy and a guy or a girl and a girl can't. If you disagree because it's marriage and marriage to you is a religious and your religion is against gay ppl, then simply don't call it marriage. Find another word for it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I get what you're saying and I agree. What I was saying was if you wanted to convert. Nobody can force you to become a christian, and if you don't want to then you should be left alone. The reason christians try to convert people is because it says in the bible to preach to people about God. Some people just take it too far to the point where they try forcing people to convert, which is wrong. Also, I don't have anything against gay people. Even if it is considered a sin in my religion, it's just one thing. It's considered just as bad as lying, which everybody has done before.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

but even if it was called a "civil union" people would be against it

by Anonymous 13 years ago

because some christians shove their beliefs down people's throats, where as homosexuals don't. not all christians, just a large amount

by Anonymous 13 years ago

How about we not bash anything?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This website is a reason it's not okay for the way a large group of christians act. Yeah, maybe like 50-60% of christians are good people at heart who only want to do what is right, but there are people over at despicable places like www.godhatesfags.com who are just horrible people, and you christians can't pretend that they don't exist. Christians can be just as hateful as anyone else. Following a religion you think is the best does not make you better than anyone else. I don't think that anyone should be discriminated against, but you guys don't have any right to say anything about that until you stop being so hypocritical about it. I know not all christians are like that, but until you guys get your act together I'm just going to go on a person- by - person basis here. You can't say that christians are being bashed for no reason, the reason is because they are already bashing gays. Gays are the victims here, christians are at fault. However I believe that you guys can do better.

Homosexuality doesn't start wars. Homosexuality isn't a choice. Homosexuality isn't responsible for the Dark Ages.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The person who wrote this post should be forced to be gay for the rest of their life.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Simple. Religion is a choice. Orientation is not.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

religion has caused more deaths than any other cause in the world. you choose to be a certain religion but you cant change your sexual oriantation.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Religion is faith based, and difficult to prove. The constitution is pretty clear, we're all given the same rights. No one person is better then another. The bible preaches the opposite.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's not okay to bash religion or homosexuality.
