on a map in is almost directly central, just south...

South west, I would say. But I'd only say that because it's quite west from where I live on the east coast.

It's in the Southwest >_<

its the west because its in north america

It's called the west because it was west according to New England (the original thirteen colonies).

It's west of the Mississippi and that is normally the deciding factor.

It really doesn't matter where it's located geographically, but the majority of Texas has a western culture (hot, dry days, Tex-Mex, etc.), which makes it part of the west.

If ur refferin to the wild wild wert then it was west then because ppl didn't explore west o Texas yet.soo actually it was west way back

It's half and half. The eastern part of Texas is actually not desert, but more green and swampy like Louisiana, and the culture and everything is consistant with the other deep souhern states. The western part of Texas is the steryotipical desert, and it is more similar to what we think of as the southwest (New Mexico, Arizona, Califonia, etc.). If I had to pick one I would say that it's part of the south because more people live in the eastern part, and Texas was part of the Confederacy.

It's west of the Mississippi River, which is what separates the Eastern United States from the Western. So it is in fact in the west whether you like it or not. Every state west of the Mississippi is a western state.

Whatever yall say, Texas is the South baby. Texas was in the Confederate States of America, which was all SOUTHERN states. and no matter what Texas culture is Southern. Guess yall just havent been here.

The confederacy was also western states. Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri were all western Confederate States.
Kansas, Iowa and Minnesota were Western Union States (lol, Western Union, Money Orders...). As were Nevada, California, and Oregon, but they weren't really involved in that war, and didn't really have many slaves anyway.
