+327 Why do some games use keys like w, a, s, d to move? Why can't they just use up, down, left, and right like every other game in the world that we're used to playing, amirite?

it's like 20 times easier? yeah that's probably why.

WASD is infinitely more conducive to gaming than the arrow keys. A: I cannot use my right hand to game, B: You are able to use the mouse simultaneously, and C: It facilitates the use of enter and space without cramping your hands.

dude, mouse control

I heard it is for games that use the mouse at the same time as the directional keys, because apparently it's kind of awkward to scrunch your arms together trying to use the arrow keys with the mouse at the same time. I'm not sure how much of a difference it really makes anyway.

I used to use the up down left right keys when i played the first half life and it was super hard when i needed to jump

WASD>Arrow keys, all day errday.

because WSAD is further from your mouse so it's comfortable to use, plus now you're not elbowing yourself trying to use the arrow keys.

Because in almost any controller you fill find the control stick/pad on the left side. It's easier that way.

I'm right handed, but I have no problem using my left hand for games that require the mouse. It's really not that hard.
