It's worse when the mom n dad are separated because you don't know if you should call the mother by her first name or mrs.friends-last-name or her maiden name which I don't know

In Afrikaans it's considered rude to say 'you' to someone more than ten years older than you. So I say aunty or uncle. Anything else seems disrespectful.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I usually just say Mr. or Mrs. and then their first name.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I call John Smith 'The Doctor'.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I usually call all my friend's parents by they're first name, unless they introduce themselves as Mr. or Mrs. Whatever.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I usually just say, "Hey, you!" instead of their name.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

To their parents?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, I never know what to call them. :P

by Anonymous 12 years ago

My friends call my parents by their first name, but I always address their parents as Mr/Mrs whatever. I think either way is fine, but my parents told me that a lot of my friends' parents have commented on how respectful I am, so when in doubt, I would go with Mr/Mrs.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

most of my friends I'm pretty close with and their parents so I just call them by their first name or mama (insert last name here) or papa (insert last name here)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I call them "Mrs. Megan's mom" or the like

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I call my friend's mom "Stacey's mom"

by Anonymous 12 years ago

by Anonymous 12 years ago

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't call them anything, I just talk to them.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It depends what they introduce them as.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Some of my friend's parents I call Mom or Dad... but only when we're close

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I call my close friends parents Aunt __ and Uncle __. Everyone else gets called according to what they tell me

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I usually will just start talking... Which gets awkward when they don't realize that you were talking to them.
