All he did was shock Ash again and again. Was I the only one that was really pissed off by his disobedience?

Don't worry, you weren't. But at least he stood by Ash, and even risked himself to save ash when he was injured.

What I found funny was that he went from hating Ash to it being a huge sobfest when Ash leaves him with a bunch of other Pikachu in the space of a few episodes.

This reminds me of a time in class when we read over 30 pages of some loser dissecting Pokemon for every little thing (ex. after Ash was struck by lightening, he was likely put into a coma, for the shows became more simple after and they were very figurative. Brock = sexual desires. The reappearing nurses in town = sense of home. Lack of middle ages males = some dumb biological shit/ past war, etc.)

I read the coma theory and the biological war. The biological war was a cool idea, but really it was a tl;dr. Coma idea makes me want to kill babies.
