+247 Eyesight would be the worst sense to lose, amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

No I would advocate that the sense of touch is the most important. If you didn't have it you couldn't walk, move, etc

by Anonymous 11 years ago

No... it'd just mean you can't feel pain lol. There are people like that out there?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yeah. That's dangerous too. They have to be under constant supervision because they're always hurting themselves...which is still worse

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Well yeah, but those guys can do all the stuff we can, just not feel the pain behind it *Tears up*

Movement and motion are not classified under the sense of touch. Maybe Proprioception, Equilibrioception, or even a bit of Nociception or tension.

Its rather difficult to walk when you can't feel the ground

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Maybe at first but it's not impossible. I would imagine it being weird though . I had a friend who had no sense of touch in the fingers of her left hand, she still uses it.

I remember seeing some kind of documentary or something about people without the sense of pain. one was partially blind from poking her eyes out repeatedly as a kid. Touch is very important.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I saw that too. She kept scratching her cornea off of her eye

What about smell? Without smell you can't taste! So that's a double whammaroo

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I know a girl without a sense of smell. It causes her absolutely no damage at all.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You can live without smelling and tasting... I didn't say there is damage to the person....

by Anonymous 11 years ago

So why would it be the worst sense to lose if it doesn't harm you?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Because not being able to taste food will suck....

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I would rather lose my eyesight than my sense of touch. People who can't feel anything often hurt themselves accidentally because they can't feel anything.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I think "common" would be up there too

by Anonymous 11 years ago

But you have to remember that most people don't have that in the first place

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Im surprised no one has said hearing. Life without music? Only what you can see, never hearing anything coming? I know both deaf and blind people can and do live full lives, but if you were to lose it after having them. Ugh thr would suck.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Hearing or sense of touch. I don't think losing my eyesight would be all that horrible to be honest.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I would hate losing any of my senses, except smell. Hearing: dangerous to lose, and no music Sight: I mean, you can't see anything. Scary Touch: That's just weird, and can be dangerous too Taste: good, because you can eat only healthy things and not care, but also, no more bacon :(

by Anonymous 11 years ago

not necessarily. Being blind makes you see the world in a different perspective, maybe appreciate life more. Recall Toni Morrison's noble prize speech anyone? It's not a disability, more like dis-is-ability. I heard that the appreciation for life decreases without taste.(but smell affects taste doesn't it)

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Agreed. I love music, really, but without sight I wouldn't be able to read anything. There's audio books, yes, but I am not an auditory learner. I need to //see// things.
