+597 Why is it socially acceptable to sneeze, but not to burp? amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Because a sneeze is often involuntary, while a burp can be more easily controlled. It isn't socially acceptable to do either without covering your mouth/nose. But I'm sure you knew that, and this is another one of those "duh" posts.

Seriously :o sneezes are TEN TIMES GROSSER AND LOUDER than a burp.

Sneezes dont smell bad. Burps do. Most of the time. Most people think of a burp as a fart from your mouth and we all no how socially unacceptable it is to fart...

I don't think that way. Burping is fine, as long as they say "excuse me" afterwards. And whenever someone burps I normally don't smell it. If you're basing this off your own burps, maybe some breath mints are in order? (btw it's "know" not "no").

So you dont think they should at least put their hand to their mouth? I do. Guess we don't share the same mannerisms. No, no I wasn't basing it off my own burps. But breath mints, seriously? Its 2010. Nobody says that anymore xD Ooh and thanks for the grammar lesson, but ever hear of 'spelling mistakes' ?

Where did I say people shouldn't put their hands in front of their mouths? I said that they should excuse themselves. And what else are you supposed to use to get rid of mouth odor? Last time I went into a pharmacy they still sold breathmints. I do not see how it can be outdated if people are still clearly buying mints to support the companies producing them. If you try to insult me, say something that can actually be backed up.

Well seeing as you were so rudely expressing your opinion I presumed whatever you didn't say didn't apply! Eh Chewing Gum?! And nobody my age these days goes around popping breath mints into their mouths.. You really shouldn't be paranoid, I never tried to insult you, I was merely putting my two cents out there.

You can hardly be rude on the internet, because you can't hear the inflection in my voice. I don't use chewing gum, and I'm a teenager. My friends also prefer mints seeing as they always have them. Don't assume you know how I was originally talking to you because of your first impression of text.

This is kind of like saying "How is it socially acceptable to have sex with some one who is old enough and not with someone who is a child." i mean... it just IS !?
