George Washington would be pissed if he saw what the USA is like today, amirite?
by Anonymous13 years ago

i think george may take note of some other things first: 1. he is on a penny. 2. he was the first of a long line of presidents 3. he has somehow traveled into the future and come back to life.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Actually George is on the quarter and dollar. It is Abraham who is on the penny
by Anonymous13 years ago
oh shit. i need to be executed. i didn't know you could get embarrassed through the internet... i was WRONG.
by Anonymous13 years ago
well technically he wasn't the "first" president.
by Anonymous13 years ago
what?
by Anonymous13 years ago
true. wasn't he against against the party system?... and I'm not sure he'd like that weed is now illegal seeing as he used to grow it on his farm... not to mention he also believed in the policy of remaining neutral...
by Anonymous13 years ago
You're right about the party thing, but he grew tobacco. Not weed.
by Anonymous13 years ago
no, he really did grow weed.
"In 1762, "Virginia awarded bounties for hempculture and
manufacture, and imposed penalties upon those who did not
produse it."
George Washington was growing hemp at Mount Vernon three years
later--presumably for its fiber, though it has been argued that
Washington was also concerned to increase the medicinal or
intoxicating potency of his marijuana plants.*"(http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Did_george_washington_grow_weed_in_his_garden)

The thing is that so much has changed since then that we've been forced to adapt. George himself said that he only expected the constitution to last 20 years. In the late 1700's, there were only 13 states, 3 million people, and the country only went from here to the missisippi. There were no nukes, no cars, no satellite, no Internet, and slavery was widely considered to be okay. I think that we did pretty good under the circumstances
by Anonymous13 years ago
He would probably be pretty pissed about how much we get involved in foreign affairs though.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Nah he wouldn't be pissed. At that time America was small-fry, now it's the most politically and economically (and probably even more so, culturally) important country in the world and I'm sure he would understand their involvement in current affairs. However I'm sure he would have fought that the constitution said more about it

George Washington was a great leader, but our country wasn't all that great back then either.
by Anonymous13 years ago
He would be. As would Thomas Jefferson. A lot of people back then would be pissed at how much government has interfered with our lives.
Some views WERE messed up back then, like slavery, but they had the right idea about limited government.
by Anonymous13 years ago
it wasn't really limited government they were interested in, it was strong vs. weak government. personally though, i would prefer a strong, limited central government.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I know what you mean. Strong enough to keep us safe, but without getting involved in our personal business, like health care.
by Anonymous13 years ago
he warned america in his farewell presidential address that we shouldn't get ourselves embroiled in political parties. but now, political parties are an integral part of our government. we have to worry about things like bipartisanship, and most people are judged as republicans or democrats. it's kind of sad, really.
by Anonymous13 years ago
there were presidents before him, but he was the first recognized president, didn't you learn this in school?
by Anonymous13 years ago
He wouldn't be pissed over the economy, he would be pissed about how there are no slaves.
by Anonymous13 years ago
he'd pee his pants.
by Anonymous13 years ago
It depends on what you're referring to. Alot of countries hate us cause they're jealous so...idk I think were pretty good. Especially since we always help out like EVERY country that needs help :p we do have a pretty corrupt gov though. :3
