+340 Pittbulls are a misunderstood breed, amirite?

Yes you absolutely are 100% right!

No way! One had attacked my niece and she had to have 32 stitches

by Anonymous 12 years ago

your niece probably provoked it. that or the owners raised it to be violent. either way its not the breeds fault.

My niece was 18 months old, and in her backyard. The dog crawled through a hole. yes she totally provoked it. now at 11 years old she is too terrified to even be in the same area as a dog

K. lets ignore the second part:) " that or the owners raised it to be violent." I'm not understanding how it crawling into the backyard means she didn't provoke it. Kids like animals, kid pats animal hard, animal do not like, animal bite. Even if she didn't " that or the owners raised it to be violent."

So her parents just neglected the fact that a strange dog was near their infant child?

A black guy killed that one girl down the street. Now I hate all black people. See how ridiculous it sounds? That one dog attacked her, not every pit bull out there.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Um. That's not really the same. It'd make more sense if you said that a black guy attacked you and now you hate all black people.

The pit bull didn't attack you, it attacked your niece. I can understand being afraid of a breed of dogs if YOU were the one attacked, but you weren't.

I can't stand ignorant people who think pit bulls are always going to attack someone no matter what. I've heard stories where a chihuahua gave some 18 stitches, and a miniature pinscher that made someone have to had reconstructive surgery on their face.

:o i have a min pin

Dogs aren't born evil and voilent like that. It's how their owners train them.

I have three dogs, one of which is a mostly pitbull mutt but a total sweetheart and another is half king charles half bijon frise and dumb but fearless. One day my friend came over and saw the the two of them playing and was convinced my mutt was going to attack the foofy dog so she grabbed the latter to "save her". Honestly, my little dog has more of a chance of hurting someone than my big dog.

no way pittbulls are scary and mean. but i might be biased because when i was little one chased me around the co-op my nana lives in and the owners just laughed. yeah not a very fun thing when your 6.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You are slightly biased, but it makes sense for you not to like them. My dog is tiny but he would literally try to kill someone if he felt I was in danger.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

my dog would do the same thing. she's an english bulldog but she is normally very gentle.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well if we're being biased here, I was attacked by an English Bulldog when I was younger. I find it funny now, because of the English Bulldogs adopted instinct to chase anything running and trip it.

Pitbulls are instinctively hunting animals. However, the owner should take the responsibility of training and domesticating it. There was one family living next to me who, instead of domesticating their dog, brought out its desire to hunt by allowing it to kill and eat their chickens they kept in the yard. Then, one day, the dog attacked their daughter. It's not the breed's fault if someone trains them to act on their natural instincts.
