+684 Its crazy to think that in most states in the U.S, you need to have a parents signature to get your ears pierced if your under age 18, but you don't need a parents signature to get an abortion if your under 18, amirite?

I tried to get my ears pierced at my grandmas house, and no one would do it with out my mother's signature. We ended up having to go to a tattoo parlor and pretending she was my mom to get it done.

where i'm at you can be 16 to get piercings without parental permission

Here in the Middle East (well I'm not sure about other countries, but in Kuwait..) ear piercings are NOTHING! in baby photos of me like 2 months old I'm already wearing earrings ;p and you don't need adults permission if you're under 16 or 18 or whatever for ears peirced and it's only for like 2 dollars at a local pharmacy.. I've always wondered why Americans get worked up over ear peircings lol

I live in America and had my ears pierced since I was a baby. But we don't JUST pierce our ears and that wasn't even the point of the post... It's that something as horrible as abortion can just go out and be done and you don't even need parental consent or anything and no one will ever know, but something as little and simple as getting a piercing they have to have a parent's signature...

Abortion is far from horrible.

Yeah, PNk has already had like ten of those. :D

I wouldn't want to have to tell my parents if I was going to have an abortion.

Because if you're getting an abortion, you're the parent who's consenting! :D Hahaha, okay, not funny.

I think that's because in some cases it's the father who raped the daughter, who then cannot get parental consent to have an abortion because she can't tell their mother for whatever reason, and she obviously can't go to the father...
