+448 Canadians: The hardest things to describe to American's is 1. Milk in a bag. 2. Loonies and Toonies. & 3. That not all of Canada is frozen wasteland. amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm American and in school we had milk in a bag...worst idea ever...the straw always went through the bottom :/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

from wisconsin?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No, Louisiana

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I used to have that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

me too! we had milk in a bag in elementary school.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No we have milk in big bags (instead of cartons) that we put into a container and pour into a glass.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Someone explain to me what loonies and toonies are.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You don't know what loonies and toonies are

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm guessing something to do with cartoons, but i'm not Canadian.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Uh.. If you really don't know what they are; Loonies are one dollar coins Toonies are two dollar coins.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Actually it's money

by Anonymous 13 years ago

why would an american even want to know?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Because it's interesting.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

1. I had bagmilk in elementary school! 2. it's just money, idk why it would be so hard to comprehend 3. british columbia is like, the opposite of frozen wasteland lol :D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think OP means milk bags instead of milk jugs. As in containing enough milk to serve multiple people.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I had milk in a bag in elementary school too... it was pretty tasty.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

we had the milk in bags in elementary school too! it had little cow drawings all over it, and we would stick the straws in the "utter"and say "Hey! fresh milk!"hah, yeah we were kinda weird.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Omg me too!!! Lol.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

omg! that's so cool!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know!!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm Californian and I'm going to school in Vancouver. I'm SO excited to use toonies and loonies after reading about them! It's so much more creative than just, "one dollar coin and two dollar coin".

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(this is the same person) Also, they have milk in a bag in Peru but there was no way I was going to trust Amazonian milk in a bag...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

ALSO we have ketchup Lays, and noone else does apparently

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I've had ketchup-flavored chips (I'm from Ohio) but I dunno if they were Lays.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

ALSO we have ketchup Lays, and noone else does apparently

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think no one else does because that sounds absolutely disgusting.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Sounds disgusting, but they're surprisingly good. I have to say, I think they are the favourite type of chip for every Canadian at one point in their life!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

what do they taste like? I imagine they're like BBQ chips because they're both tomato based...?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They're fucking unreal. I love ketchup chips. Everyone I know loves ketchup chips.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They're delicious!!!!!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

We have ketchup Herr's (I know cuz I've been to the factory), but they're not very popular, and they're not Lays.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Let me just say, I've lived in Canada my entire life and I have never seen milk in a bag.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Same here. I've always gotten milk in cartons.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Really? oh, wow. Where do you live? because in Ontario we have Milk in a bag.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Me neither. I've gotten it in Jugs and Cartons, but never bags. I live in Alberta by the way.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Gotta love Alberta <3

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah it is mostly in Ontario and Quebec that there is milk in bags.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know I'm just proving your point, but what the hell is milk in a bag?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

when you buy a large amount of milk (as in 2days to a weeks worth) then in Canada we get it in a 1L bag how do Americans get it i thought they got the same?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Um... in a plastic container. They're gallon sized, which is around two liters, if you don't know, and depending on how much milk you drink, it usually lasts the same as a bag (two days to a week). However, it expires around a month after you buy it, depending on how long it's bn sitting in the store.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Someone please explain the POINT of milk in a bag. I'm envisioning punctured milk leaking, why is this a good idea?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

lol.. there's a bag of milk that gets put into a plastic container. You then just cut the top corner of the bag (typically a small hole), for the milk to come out of. Here's a picture of a bag of milk: http://fpm3.weblogbiz.com/?p=277

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Doesn't it...spill? And what benefit does it have to anyone to put milk in a bag versus a carton?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Nope, it never spills anymore than a carton of milk would. I don't think it really has any benefits when you're comparing it to cartons.. it's just another way of containing milk. If any other Canadians know of any benefits, let me know!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

it doesn't have benefits, except less waste. There's not ad much garbage once you're done with it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Also, it fits in the fridge better.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This is wrong. The hardest thing is teaching them how to properly use 'eh?' in a sentence.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The only one here I cannot fathom is milk in a bag, I've heard of it, but I can't imagine how that would work out.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But I know the other two.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

ooh you get a milk bag, put the milk bag into a milk bag container thingy, use scissors or something that can cut, and cut a hole in the top corner of the bag, then poor the milk from the bag into whatever you need milk for.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i didn't know what Loonies and Toonies were until someone explained it in the comments I just looked up milk in a bag and now i understand it and I always knew that Canada isn't all a frozen wasteland.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You didn't need that apostrophe after 'Americans' Also, when I was in elementary school in New Mexico, I had milk in a bag. The second part, I can admit I didn't know. Only complete idiots believe all of Canada is a frozen wasteland.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

we have milk in a bag but we buy it in gallon bags then put it in a pitcher. Idk maybe its cause i live in wisconsin and thats near Canada. Loonies and toonies arent confusing. But again I cross over into canada all the time so that might be why. I live like 30 miles from the border. And people think the same hing about Wisconsin. I convinced a little boy down in Georgia that I live in an igloo and ride a polar bear....of course he was 6 but just the fact that he believed me was hilarious

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I've heard milk in a bag before. Drinks taste better from boxes and jugs than bags..

by Anonymous 13 years ago

milk.. in.. a.. bag?! sounds nasty; anyway that's a pretty lame name for money. i wouldn't be able to take that seriously, like.. "ma'am your change is 5 loonies."

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Or you could just give them a five dollar bill?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

We usually just say "5 dollars"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm not from Canada or America and I've seen milk in a bag in my country...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't understand why it'd be so hard to describe milk in a bag. "Its milk...in a bag." And I've never met an American who thought that Canada was frozen wasteland. o.o They just say "Canada is just like America minus all the fat people."

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm American and the first two I have no clue about. However, I do know that Canada isn't all frozen wasteland.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Canucks... I bow before your milk in a bag... Simply brilliant

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Americans actually do have milk in a bag. It depends on where you live on its availability. It's funny how people get mad at us for being obtuse about other countries, when it's not like they know everything about us.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

canada is ameircas younger, nerdy, gay brother. while america is out fucking the rest of the world a.k.a slaying pussy, canada sits its little loser ass down and masturbates. canada oh canada how gay my counrty is

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm sorry, but Canada owns.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

we're bigger and on top, we also export a couple billion dollars worth of stuff to you every year so your kinda Dependant on us.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

damn right we're on top. ;)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

the hardest thing to explain has got to be beaver tails. mmmmmmh so tasty.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I love beaver tails ! I haven't had one in soo long though.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Am I the only Canadian who has NEVER seen milk in a bag?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm Aussie and milk in a bag sounds disgusting.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

it tastes the exact same as milk in a carton.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

it tastes BETTER than milk in a carton.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

In the country I live in (Kyrgyzstan) we have milk in bags as well. Also when I travel to places like Turkey or China or Egypt I have seen weird flavoured lays. Here we have shrimp flavoured, ketchup flavoured, dill flavoured. All types of weird stuff

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I llive in Australia and i've never heard about this stuff before (except for no.3), and I have to ask, why the fuck would you put milk in a BAG?!
