+127 Marijuana should be legal. It's not addictive, it's not that bad for you (in moderation), and we could tax it and maybe that would help get us out of this damn recession, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah. Marijuana/hemp is a PLANT. It's not dangerous. If it were legal, people wouldn't be messing with truly dangerous stuff like meth.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The part about the meth isn't true. People will always do harder drugs than marijuana. You can't deny that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well, maybe they would, but it wouldn't be so widespread. It's easier for a teenager who wants to experiment with drugs to get the chemicals in meth than pot.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You're saying it's easier to get meth than pot? I can't say with 100% certainty but that sounds ridiculous to me.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No, but stupid teenagers don't normally know the "proper" way to make meth, so they experiment by inhaling nail polish and Sharpies...it's disgusting.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If marijuana were legal, they could experiment with that and skip meth all together.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My point is if you're going to do meth, cocaine, PCP, etc. you're going to do those drugs, I don't think marijuana being legal is going to stop you.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Exactly my point. I'm for the legalization of pot and against the "war on drugs".

by Anonymous 13 years ago

the war on drugs is sooooo backwards and fucked up, you should watch this documentary American Drug war: the last white hope....they talk about everything and even the cia BRINGING cocaine into the USA to fund wars......FUCKED UP

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's called Huffing and Meth is a hundred times worse. Huffing is the other version of Pot: You get high but also cause serious brain damage after a period of time.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They should just stop classifying weed the SAME as meth/other drugs on the scheduling system and maybe younguns wont look at it the same cus thats fucked up. They also say weed is worse than cocaine in the schedules too

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Exactly...then people could just smoke their weed and be happy.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I believe it has something to do with the fact that it alters your memory and affects some part of your brain. We were discussing it in school some time ago.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

only if you allow it to madam

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yea, but for some people it IMPROVES memory and if you have mental problems, it can calm you down to a reasoning level. To make your memory worse, you have to do pot for long periods of time. Though if you get high enough, you might think you can live after trying to fly off a seven story building...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

And then potheads would stop talking about it so god damn much, yes.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

hahaha yes then they would finally shut up about it all!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't disagree with the post, except that weed IS addictive and the poster is an idiot for thinking otherwise.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think it's not as addictive as like heroin or some others, though...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You normally mix it with tobacco which is addictive and since there are people who are addicted to chicken and weird things like that I'm sure it's addictive but compared to other drugs it more or less causes no addiction.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Too bad it's not addictive, otherwise you might have a valid point.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Marijuana is less addictive than both alcohol and tobacco. Can someone PLEASE tell me why it was made illegal in the first place? >_>

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It was originally illegalized by a head of a powerful logging company because it can be made into paper a lot easier than wood

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It really isn't very addictive compared to some other drugs.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yay weed is already legal in holland. Holland FTW!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's not as quick to become addicted as say, tobacco which is why it's less of a problem, but have you ever met somebody that's been long-term addicted to weed? it's almost impossible to quit and induces mental and physical sickness.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You've got to be kidding me. No one EVER gets sick when they want to stop smoking weed. You need to do a little research.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Actually I know a guy who has serious mood swings and nausea when he stops smoking weed, or tries to cut back.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My friend and I actually talked about this for a while, if it becomes legal the government will tax the shit out of it so it will be so expensive that there will just be private dealers selling illegally which will probably be the same as it is.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Actually if it becomes legal (at least in california) you will also be allowed to grow it which means, over time, it can cost next to nothing

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yea let's have eveyone be a pot head, excellent idea. No.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Is everyone a cigarette smoking alcoholic? No? I didn't think so. Don't bash things you clearly know nothing about.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

When I say everyone , I most certainly did not mean it literally. Chill out

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm pretty sure that people that don't smoke weed aren't going to start smoking if it becomes legal. Me being one for example.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Marijuana is a stepping stone drug that leads to other, more serious drugs.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Not really, if pot is already illegal, they figure they might as well keep being illegal and using more serious drugs. If pot's legal then people will just stop at weed most of the time and never try anything more. People usually want to follow the law.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah it would stimulate the economy. And okay marijuana may be healthier than alcohol and tobacco but marijuana kills brain cells. Your blood cells and other cells regenerate, but your brain cells won't.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

good God, people are close-minded idiots. Marijuana is only a stepping stone if you have no self control. I know people who have smoked marijuana for years and never touched hard stuff. I myself have smoked marijuana for awhile, but I've never tried anything else. I'm not saying marijuana is good for you, but neither is a LOT of other things that people do everyday. Even if marijuana IS a gateway drug, what about alcohol? When you experience being drunk, you always want to increase your buzz. That leads to drinking more, and thus destroying your liver. It's human nature to want more than you have. you can't use the gateway argument, because its the same as everything else in the world. But, marijuana hurting you has nothing to do with legalization. Cigarettes and alcohol are legal, yet can potentially kill you. You can't get your lungs back, or your liver, but you have billions of brain cells that will not be affected by THC.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Legalizing marijuana would boost the economy because people would tax the SHIT out of it. And with less people in jail for possession of pot, thats less money taxpayers have to pay, too.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Marijuana does not kill brain cells. Multiple tests have conclusively proven that. Google '50 things that kill brain cells'. Cocaine, MDMA and heavy consumption of alcohol are on there. Marijuana isn't. Don't become misinformed by frenzied anti-drug crowds. Stepping stone drugs are an illusion. Drugs do not work like cookies and milk. You don't take one and suddenly crave the other. It completely depends on the characteristics of the person. There is zero possibility of a person becoming physically addicted to marijuana. Psychological addiction can manifest in anything attributed towards pleasure, such as fast food or masturbation. It's not specific to drugs at all. Know your stuff.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

actually marijuana does kill brain cells. My aunt used to smoke weed for so many years that by the time she was in her fourties she could barely hold a conversation. AND that was the biggest reason for her and my uncle's divorce: they couldn't even talk anymore

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Actually, marijuana is 5 times more dangerous than tobacco. That's OBVIOUSLY not harmful.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This post is a copy...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If it became legal the DUI rates would sky rocket

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It doesn't impair your driving ability.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But it impairs what you see

by Anonymous 13 years ago

ahahaha you've evidently never smoked weed. if you're "seeing" stuff, you're obviously smoking some hella dank shit.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Not that i agree or disagree with pot but we have been officially declaired out of recession and in recovery... so maybe should try and make another point just a thought

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My only problem is that politicians are either working to legalize marijuana and ban smoking or to keep smoking legal and fight against marijuana. At least be consistent and make them both legal or both illegal.
