-631 you cant have more than one "best friend", amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It really depends all on your opinion, but i think it limits good friendships that you could have.

I see it like this; You have a "best friend" (your number one) and then you have your "best friendS" (almost as good as your number one) then you have "close friends" (friends you can trust with almost anything) then "good friends" (friends you can trust) and then "friends" (just plain old friends) and then "school friends" (people you don't associate with much outside of school) and then... everyone else. But that's just me?

You can't have more than one "best friend." The reason is because, no matter what, you always like one friend more than the other, even if it's the slightest bit.

You may like different things about each person, but that doesn't mean as a whole I like one better than the other(s). Besides, there shouldn't be a need to quantify how much you like your best friend. If you're really best friends with someone, shit like that doesn't matter; all I care about is being able to hang out with them, sharing laughs, and being comfortable being completely open and sincere to who I am when I'm with them.

I'm not trying to contradict you, but, seriously, there's always that one person you favor over the other. It may not seem that way but you can't like somebody equally. Still, even if you say you like them all the same, you really like one person more than another even by an "atom" of love or hate.

Yeah, I know what you're saying but for instance, I have two. One's 100m backstroke state champ of nc, rank 11, etc. and the other one is an amazing musician, a hipster, an artist, etc. I like zack (the athelete) for his intelligence, words of wisdom, overall success as a high school student, and his incredible way with words. I like stevie, the musician for entirely different reasons: his personable attitude, he's honestly and sincerely nice to everyone whether or not he likes them, and I admire his creativity. I don't admire stevie for his intelligence, nor do I admire zack for his musical talent and creativity. I like different things about each person, so saying I like one more than the other is like saying I like eating fruit more than I like wearing hats. You know what I mean?

I like eating fruit more than wearing hats... I know what your saying, and, it doesn't matter if the two have different abilities. Even though you tell yourself you like them equally for different things, you appreciate a part of one of them a little more than the other. I know I'm being stubborn and all, but this keeps reminding me of Pulp Fiction with the Elvis and Beatles fan thing.

No, I really don't. How? because I don't tell myself one is a better best friend because I like him more. By not quantifying and qualifying their attributes, I can hold them at the same level in my mind.

I have seven. And they are the best people ever. I'm equally as close to them and I like some things about some of them more than others, but I love them just as much. And I don't even go to the same school as them.

I've got two best friends, thanks very much, and I love them equally.

YES. YOU. CAN.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

true, because you can have multiple BEST FRIENDS, but only one BEST FRIEND, since best means better than all others. best friends means the best of all friends you've got, those 3-4 people that are the best of friends to you, while the best friend is the bestest of the best friends
