+110 You always wondered why wizards and witches needed the knight bus if most of them can just apparate or use a port key to go pretty much wherever they want. It would be even faster, amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

because you can't use magic out of school.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Unless you are over the age of 17.

(JessicaxLove): You are correct.

Is Apparate the spell that turns them into those black and white clouds? Or is it the instant teleport like when Dumbledore takes Harry to the train station?

You're one of those people who watches the movies but doesn't bother with the books, yeah?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I read up to book 4 and started 5 but never got passed the beginning.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You should read them even if you've seen the movies.

Aparating is like driving. Those who can't drive, take the bus

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I always see it that the Knight Bus is the conveniently fast, undetectable wizard way to a muggle location that you can't apparate to.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Not everybody can apparate, plus it runs the risk of being splinched. And the knight bus is for the stranded witch or wizard and has beds for then to rest during their temporary homelessness.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'm pretty sure you have to fill out a lot of paperwork and shit to be able to get a portkey. And the Knight Bus is typically used by people who cannot apparate for some reason (underage, etc.). Damn, I know way too much about this.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Those are all tracked. They were being secretive, and you can't use magic out of school.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

The better question is: If the only stated method of summons for the Knight Bus is simply to "stick your wand hand out", why aren't we seeing that thing pop in every 5 seconds?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Apparation: Not everyone can do it (explained in book 6) Portkey: Paperwork (explained in books) Knight Bus: For the stranded witch or wizard, has beds for hem to rest on.
