+636 Being a white, middle classed male sucks. You can't get a scholarship, you're automatically considered an asshole, and everyone else thinks they have a right to treat you like shit because decades ago your ancestors treated their ancestors like shit, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhah

by Anonymous 13 years ago

suck it up.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(srsly.): Would you like to pay for my $40k+ a year tuition?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

well, there are other people in this world who have it way worse than you. In fact, it seems like the people that have no resources or any support whatsoever are the ones that don't complain and drive to work harder. So if I were you, I'd be grateful for what I have.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(srsly.): I am grateful for what I have, but it's not fair that just because my hardworking parents were born here and Caucasian, their children can't get scholarships and they can't get benefits. There are programs that enable foreigners that come here, not citizens, to get free college, gas cards, etc. I do feel bad for people who can't afford these things, but why should I be forced to spend my entire life paying off loans for my ethnicity?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

foreigners undoubtebly have a harder time with not knowing the language the people or how most things work in a different country. minorities obviously have the worse end of it here and i'm not talking about history, i'm talking about current prejudices and stereotypes and other forms of racism that they are subjected to, much like others in the world, but moreso. so work your hardest and quit complaining.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

if they were a foreigner it was their choice to come here, knowing that there was a different language to learn. it would be just like me going to some other country and expecting them to make iteasier for me just because i wasn't used to their culture. its not right, they shouldn't have to change their ways just because it might be hard for someone to learn them

by Anonymous 13 years ago

as well as it is your choice to be here and work for your education, it is theirs. everyone hopes for a better future, it is simply just more difficult for minorities and women because of prejudices and racism still existing and difficulty fitting in with another country's language and lifestyles.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

BUT THEY DON'T WORK. They get benefits because of their ethnicity. Oh, and I'm actually a girl, but I believe this post also applies to me.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You don't know whether minorities work or not. I never got an interview.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Minorities may have it bad as far as how they're treated by individuals, but our country as a whole, especially under the current administration, are definitely more concerned with giving privileges to the minorities rather than caucasians and even legal immigrants. If I were a minority, I would "suck it up" and be grateful for the government's handouts (including free scholarships) instead of bitching about individual racists. And let's not forget that there is such a thing as reverse discrimination!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

completely agree with you!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

there is such a thing a reverse descrimination, but it is UNDOUBTEDLY much less common than normal discrimination, or minorities wouldn't be so much worse off in the world, speaking from the bottom.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Anonymous):i would like for you to work for your education like those of us who aren't financially gifted (possibly yourself included) do when we have confidence in ourselves and the brains to back that up. i would pay just as much as you in your position regardless of my race or class.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I work harder than 99% of the kids in my school. I have a crapload of work to do over vacation for APs and other "gifted" classes. I spent the last decade of my life studying my butt off. Yet, the ones who just waltz into this country get the benefits. My parents do make quite a bit of money, but in NY, they take most of it because we make so much. We're financially unstable with my sister having to compromise what college she goes to because we can't afford something better.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

WHITE MIDDLE CLASS MALE... versus the minorities living in bad parts of town, foreigners struggling to learn the language and get a job, struggling to support their children in school... You have to see why foreigners might be given benefits over people like you. ("People like you" sounds kind of harsh, no racism here, i'm half white:) )

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They don't have to learn the language anymore. The government caters to their needs. And my ancestors worked harder than the foreigners today. There was MORE racism, no/little welfare, worse working conditions, etc. They worked hard. They couldn't go to college, because they were orphans before they even became teens, but their children were raised right and became a bit wealthier, and it continued. Don't give me shit about the foreigners today deserving benefits.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm positive your ancestors' weren't subject to the terror on those of the minorities' ancestors, but that isn't what this is about, and i don't hold anyone except for the racists in our generation responsible for that. Minorities still can't go to college in many places and I'm sorry, but all of the prejudices against a minority these days just do not stack with those of a white male.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My ancestors were pelted with assorted objects on the streets because they were Italian/Polish/Austrian/Swedish/whatever other ethnicity I am and because they were struggling with learning English[but still did]. The government didn't take pity on them. Personally, the government shouldn't hold any benefits programs. Lezaisse Faire [Not sure if the spelling is correct. I took Spanish, not French] Hands off.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ok, let me put it to you this way. MINORITIES are that of which they are called for a reason, they have been pushed to the bottom and wiped out a lot. I know my shit, and I get a LOT of shit, for being a black female Jew. I'm the ultimate minority trying to get ahead in the world and let me tell you, I work twice as hard as my white friends to get half as far.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Not all places are like that. In some places, it's the other way around. Whites work twice as hard, but still get absolutely nothing.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

that's not true. i mean, everyone knows that women can be paid less for the same job as a man and many minorities get turned down a job because of their race in my area, and i read stories about that happening in other areas as well.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

by saying this i am not stating that whites don't work hard, but that women and minorities and often foreigners most commonly work harder to get into the same position and i guess some people will just never understand if they don't experience it personally every day.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

oh, and just because you do better and are more successful academically than said 99 percent of students in your school DOES NOT mean you work harder.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So what does it mean? He's just lucky? I am sorry but that's the stupidest thing I have ever heard.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

no, it doens't it doesn't mean they work harder but they are obviously held back by less. if you don't think there is more racism holding back hardworking minorities back then I invite you to inner city chicago, my home, where I see it and am subject to it every day of my life, unlike you.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

How can you say "unlike you"? You have no basis on which to say that...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You said the post applies to you,, so I am comparing you to a minority.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It wasn't me who posted that btw, I was just commenting.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

She** But this post applies to me. And I work EXTREMELY hard.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Uhhh, yah it does. We work harder than most people to get where we are, and what do we get for it? I'm not saying that we should get anything, but I think people should stop giving us crap for being "lucky" or anything else as stupid as that. We work hard day in and day out. Oh and by the way, I'm a she too:)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

WE? Did you just say WE? How the hell would you know that middle class whites work harder than minorities? Someone in my position would have to work very hard to get to where you are complaining about. I won't call it LUCK, but you certainly are having a different life because you were brought into the world white. And by the way, I am a she as well. I feel we have both put as much into this argument as can be argued, but I (and you, I'm assuming) are not going to agree to disagree. Have a nice day.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm a minority, too. I don't like to broadcast it to everyone, though. I don't like to use it to gain pity for myself because for me, it makes no difference. I believe everyone has equal OPPORTUNITY for greatness. It doesn't make a difference to me that I have less money than other people because I know that if I work hard enough I can change that. I know I am very smart and that is more important to me than my social standing right now. I am surrounded by people of higher social class than me but I make more of what I have than most of them. So I don't appreciate you making that judgement about me.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

how do you feel this post applies to you if you are neither white nor a male? i don't appreciate you assuming all minorities don't work or not taking note of how much more difficult it is for a minority/foreigner in a deeply prejudice world to make their way. EVERY HAS EQUAL OPPORTUNITY FOR GREATNESS, but racism brings out the monster in people, which holds other back.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I wasn't replying to the post, I was replying to one of the comments made about the post. When did i ever assume minorities don't work hard? Yes, I am white. Besides, my comment was in reply to someone saying that they work harder than 99% of their school, and I felt that it applied to me so I was simply saying that yes, we work harder. Not we as in middle class, because I am not a part of that class, and not we as in minorities, but we as the kids in school who work hard to get where we are.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

okay let me sum this up, life is just overall more difficult for a working class woman trying to get ahead when the world still holds an unrealistic idea that women aren't worth as much as men, a minority in a racist world, trying to push them back, or a foreigner in a new country that won't welcome them and try to help them get by in tough times. I suppose people that aren't included in these groups or just haven't experienced this never ever will.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

And bullshit "we work harder than most people to get to where we are" because there would be no way of you knowing that. ever.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Care to explain how?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(lleexxaa):You would have no way of knowing how hard someone works to get to where they are, you don't know where they started and the trials they faced that pushed them down along they way. there would be no way of knowing, ever, for anyone.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There are some ways, like if they told you, or if you grew up with them and you know them.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

there is still no way to no if they are verbally/physically beaten down every day because of that or how someone got to where they are, and because you may claim to know about the people in your area does not mean you can generalize that "we work harder than most people to get to where we are." just because you work hard does not mean that many others work twice as hard to get half as far in the kind of loopy world we live in.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ok cool. Thanks for degrading the fact that I work hard and that I am proud of it. But, you know, you're right. The world is unfair and the fact that tons of other people work hard means that it doesn't matter if I work hard or not. Go ahead, take every single thing that I say and find a way to twist it around and make me seem like the bad guy. Oh and you know what, even though I didn't say something, it's ok for you to post that I did and tell me why it's wrong.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

suck it up, you can still get a taxi. i'm sure being called a terrorist or stopped at the airport, a chink, or not being able to get a job is worse, but hey, everyone is subjected to this stuff, we live in a prejudice world.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I've been called a terrorist, a honky, and the only place I can get a job without a college education is entry level positions that hire anyone regardless of creed, race, age, ect. Yes, I am living a life better off then several minorities, and I'm entirely grateful for that, and I pay attention to the plights of other minorities. I hold no grudge against anyone, I'm just pointing out that there seems to be a belief in society that because of what the collective Caucasian group has done in the past, us new generation Caucasian individuals deserve to be removed from benefits that everyone else is getting.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

@292510 (Propane): no, but there is the truth that women are paid less than men for the same job and that minorities and foreigners are often discriminated against, known to be moreso than to whites.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

And I recognize that. But I've seen plenty of scholarships for females of any race, including whites. I'm not trying to generalize the whole thing, I was really just trying to comment on what I stated in my last post above. It's unfortunate people are taking me to say "White men deserve more because they have it worse than everyone." That's not what I'm saying at all.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I can accept that, but just because you have seen something does not mean it is common. Plus, it just seems strange to my ears to hear that being a white middle classed male is difficult because I think third world countries, rotting away, struggling foreigners who don't speak the language, prevalent racism and prejudice keeping someone from getting a job, and to be honest "middle class white male" doesn't seem as bad as that does.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So true. Which is why I have to work my butt off for another 3 yrs in hopes of being in the top 10 or top 20 students in my school. Because as a Caucasian citizen, there aren't any government run scholarship programs for me. Maybe if I become a citizen of Argentina and go to FL I'll get something.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

As opposed to minorities and foreigners working their butts off to get past racism, hardships with languages and racial acceptance for the rest of their lives. I dont feel sorry for you that you have to work hard, so do they. And they're getting spat on, (or from what I have experienced in my short lifetime) while doing it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

White privilege, still keeping the world running the way it should be.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You make the non-racist people look bad. Thanks~~

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You guys don't get anything! Being white is nothing. My family is native to Pakistan. I immigrated to America last year and I'm telling you. The busses there are just small wagons pulled by bikes. My family is lucky to have a computer. I problem in the system rendered my family to live in Pakistan. I had to leave my home, my family, and come to a messed up country where being Muslim is bad. Every time I pray in my office my boss comes and abuses me. My son, born in America, has top notch grades. He is in an all year advanced class full of white kids!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

True true!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Arguing about this is not only tiresome, but pointless. White people will never understand what it is like to be a minority. We will never understand what it's like to be white. So, let's agree to disagree.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

you're absolutely, 100 percent right. It's just a completely different life you're handed if you are born into the world with a different color skin.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You have to work with what you get. I'm black and a female, but I still work my ass off to keep my 4.0 average and I take a shitload of AP classes. I could sit on my ass, do mediocre and probably still get a scholarship, but I want every opportunity avaliable to me, like getting into my first college of choice. Regardless of my race, if I was white and male, I'd do the same thing.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's amazing I'm glad you work hard. What the OP is saying is that he/she can't get the extra bonuses after putting in that hard work, and will most likely take on 100K+ debt for overall college expenses.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This guy at my school, Scott, is white. He graduated this year and got loads of scholarships. OP might not get any, but it's a possibility that he could. Not to be insensitive, but he should just deal with the cards he has.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know it is. I'm black and female. My life is not exactly a walk in the park. I just hate arguments that will overall accomplish nothing. When people have a strong opinion about something, it is unlikely it will change, especially if it involves race, religion, or politics. I just wish people could accept life as the way it is and move on because it's not going to change anytime soon.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

you should youtube a song called "rockin the suburbs" by ben folds...although chances are you wouldn't realise it's making fun of you.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Some of these comments are total BS. Being white had in no way protected me from being poor, from having alot of hardship, from racism. I have so many minority friends who have it AWESOME, but many who don't, I know many minorites who are extremely racist, many whites as well. Just being born in American I consider myself priveledged- not because of my race. I know I am alot better off then many others, that doesn't mean life isn't hard. Divorce, racism, abuse, being poor, low self esteem, family illness/cancer, that doesn't go away because I'm white, sorry.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Let me tell y'all what it's like Being male, middle-class and white It's a bitch, if you don't believe Listen up to my new CD (Sham-on) I got shit running through my brain So intense that I can't explain All alone in my white-boy pain Shake your booty while the band complains I'm rockin' the suburbs Just like Michael Jackson did I'm rockin' the suburbs Except that he was talented I'm rockin' the suburbs I take the checks and face the facts That some producer with computers fixes all my shitty tracks I'm pissed off but I'm too polite When people break in the McDonald's line Mom and Dad you made me so uptight I'm gonna cuss on the mic tonight I don't know how much I can take Girl, give me something I can break I'm rockin' the suburbs Just like Quiet Riot did I'm rockin' the suburbs Except that they were talented I'm rockin' the suburbs I take the checks and face the facts That some producer with computers fixes all my shitty tracks In a haz...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Let's stop arguing about what race has it worse, ok? It's not about race. You shouldn't hate or pity or value someone more because of race, and race does NOT make anyone ignorant. Anyone being subjected to racism, being poor, working too hard, needs to be respected and helped out, race should not be relevant.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Maybe you're treated that way because you are an asshole.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yea and also when your white evrything you say can be considored raisist but black people can be jerks

by Anonymous 13 years ago
