+501 I don't get how "cracker" is now a racial term. Personally, I like crackers, and to be called one is nice, amirite?

It goes back so slavery and "cracking the whip."

It's what the slaves would call their "owners" when they cracked the whip to make them go faster. And Cracker Barrel (for those of you in the south USA) was a restaurant for the slave owners. It's not really fair for white people to be called it, because we didn't personally do that. It was our ancestors.

Lmao! :)

This is kinda ironic because there used to be this black girl we all called Cracker, but that was because her last name was Graham. As in Graham Cracker.

It refers to slave owners "crack"ing a whip on a slave. I'm white and from Texas and have been called a cracker many times.

I always thought it was because crackers are white, beside the fact that we have brown pretzel crackers. That could be a second meaning.

It's a racist term?

More to the point nigger can be said by blacks just like cracker and people roll their eyes at worst. White says first half of the n word and everyone is coming down on him. That aint equal. If our ancestors were crackers so you can call us it now then we can still call you cotton picking niggers. Of course not. I wouldn't want to but it is what you are doing. Sooner or later you gotta let go of old ties if you wanna be freed from such a terrible past

I prefer calling them "caucs".

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well of course the person who wrote this wouldn't mind being called a cracker even if it is used as racial slang. I mean their name is "BitchWhore".

It's an inside joke, dickwad.
