Why would anyone not want to seem as intelligent as possible?

Because if certain people know you're smart they usually will try to use you by pretending to be your friend, but they just want your answers. I did a little experiment when I moved to not act smart and some people get so surprised when I always seem to get the right answers by chance.

Believe it or not, many girls do this because they believe boys don't like smart girls ... I disagree with doing this of course but I've had guys tell me they didn't like that I was smarter than them. Other than that some people like to be underestimated because of the advantages it could potentially give them, such as not having so much expected of them, or being able to tell who, if anyone, might try and take advantage of them, and so forth.
