As a girl, I have to say that not removing your downtherehair for a week is one of the itchiest, least comfortable things ever. And hairy armpits smell. And if you meant this for guys' hair then NO that would be gross, all men would look like tramps. How on earth has this got a positive number??

As a girl, I have never shaved my downtherehair and it has never felt itchy or uncomfortable. I think once you shave it once, it becomes more prickly. I agree that armpits should be shaved, but legs and beards have no reason to not have hair on them.

Some professions and/or sports do require their participants to be hairless, though. Gymnastics, for one. And swimming.

It shouldn't be a social standard, though. Swimming also requires that you wear a bathing suit, but we don't walk around in public in bathing suits.
