-70 It's weird that the people we tend to think of as the 'extremist' Christians are actually the ones who are more loyal to the rules of the Bible, amirite?

That's kinda what "extremist" means.

"extremist" means that they take the rules of the bible way too seriously and strictly. even stricter than it was intended to be

by Anonymous 14 years ago

It was intended to be so strict that no one could follow it. So no, nobody takes it too strictly.

The Bible says be nice to everyone. Love everyone. And it's the extremist Christians who went out and fought wars, killing millions, for what they supposed was "Christianity." The Bible says to tolerate people... and be nice, again... and it's the extremist Christians who won't speak to those not of their religion.

thats where your wrong, the bible says to murder like 50% of people, beat your slaves, sell your virgin daughter, have a rapist marry the one he raped and basically desert your entire family.

More loyal to certain parts of the Bible, but not others. Mainly they ignore the whole "love thy neighbor," charitable, and humble message and go more for the "kill the gays, atheists and scientists" view.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

exactly... even though it the bible never explicately singles out gay as wrong

by Anonymous 14 years ago

I always thought that. OHHH! Adam wasn't gay, so that means it's terrible to be gay!

Well Leviticus 18:22 says, "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination," and while there are many ways to interpret it, many fundamentalist Christians take it to mean that homosexuality is wrong. And according to Leviticus 20:13, "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them," so the punishment is death.
