I'm from Arkansas. I never understood why people find it so hard to pronounce Arkansas correctly. So what if it's spelled different from the way it's sounds? Many words are like that. What makes Arkansas any differently?

Actually, in Arkansas, It's a law that you cannot say Arkansas as Ar-kan-Sas or Ar-cane-saw or anything. I know, cause I actually live in Arkansas. Yes, it's a dumb law, but whatever.

This confused me when I first read it because I like to pronounce Arkansas as Ar-Kansas and because when I remembered how to actually pronounce it, I was saying "Arkanwaw."
